Great idea for a special issue PMM: Public Money & Management on politician's use of data and information. This seems like it could not be more relevant for the US:

KC Star and KC Public Library make the entire collection of KC Star photos from 20th Century public. Great ones of Truman, Pendergast, and many others. #polsky #polisky #pasky

If you are a professor and not feeling like a Grinch this Christmas, then you are not paying attention and probably crazy.
More terrible "economic development" in Wyandotte County Kansas, aka future home of the Chiefs.

The STAR bond program that will allow the Chiefs to move across the state line to Kansas City Kansas has become a giant credit card for all the communities of Kansas. It has really brought out my inner Grinch!

If you work with AI, what is the best value right now? I won some money for my academic research. I would really like to use AI to do menial tasks for me like collecting financial reports and scraping them if that is possible. Since its not a lot of $, it would need to be under $250 per month. tia
WE WON. I am *begging* you to take note of who did this. *Not* UCLA adminβtheyβre still scuttling around behind closed doors, attempting to appeaseβbut FACULTY AND STAFF, led by AAUP.
We know local government spends between $3 - 5 billion on election administration EVERY year. We don't know how much states spend, making this @electioninnov.bsky.social report on the division of responsibility between state and local governments very important electioninnovation.org/research/who...
I appreciate @benschneer.bsky.social and HKS for making this very clear explanation of the problems of redistricting in Texas. Social media needs more of this.

I got my super late review done too! Maybe the rapture is happening.
Holy cow, I am on it for election administration. I really feel like I am big time now! Haha π
Shit my mother-in-law makes but it makes my wife happy.
The NYT online was free for over a decade and largely killed local journalism. Then they killed Google Reader and now comedians at the big networks are being fired for speaking humorous truth. Enshitification has fucked up everything. - Elder Millenial
Obviously, yes.
What is debanking? I am pretty sure I am against that too. But otherwise just a real nutcase and I am self censoring.
G or D. Flip a coin. I am fine either way.
I read this all the way to the end of the post and I can say definitively two things: 1.) People in local government love Parks and Rec.And 2.) there are too many doctor shows and movies. Make one about doctor's wives/significant-others that only stay with them to hate-spend their money -π― accurate.
Can this be true? Amazing!
When we lived in Charlotte, we had school bus races in the summer at the race track. Principles, sheriffs, fire chiefs all did them. I never saw anyone get hurt but saw some great wrecks. I wondered if this ever happened. Of course it is a sheriff that dies though!
Would Canada or France like to buy a satellite? Probably not going to happen but a budgeter can dream.

Wow. A group of top scholars at Harvard just sent a letter to its president, Alan Garber, warning against surrendering to Trump.

Someone forwarded it to me. Read it here:
Thank you for the clarification. I like July because it is an early barometer in hiring, but these numbers might be a bit rosy for the year because I think the state schools that tend to recruit in the fall/winter are likely to be hard hit. But, I will be following you throughout the year.
Poli sci faculty jobs down 38% from last year. How does this compare to othe fields. #econsky #pasky
