Klang gang what happened π
It seems to just be an extra frame perfect input, yeah. You have to get the right frame on the βlast timeβ screen and then the right frame on the PokΓ©mon generation
So that was a bust lol- based on some other research though, it seems the RNG is incremented a second time each frame. It just means you have to be on the correct even/odd frame when exiting the "last time on your adventure" screen.
The more you know!!
Time to bust out mGBA and check lol
I wonder how that works internally, is the game running at 120 fps and just updating the screen every 60? Or does the game usually run at 30 fps?
Iβm realizing how little I know about the gen 3 engine off the top of my head lol
I really need to do more research on Gen 3 RNG, but I wonder if the double speed RNG frames will make certain frames unreachable. Does the game run the frames twice as fast, or does it just skip every other frame?
The previously announced language support and alternate conversion methods are still the focus of v2.0.0, but there are so many other improvements that have been made thanks to the hard work of just under a dozen people. Weβre looking forward to sharing it all with you sometime in the near future!
Iβm a day late, but I hope everyone had a great PokΓ©mon day! The future of the series seems bright, especially with that 2027 release date!!
Iβm so excited to share all the progress the team (yes, team!) has been making on PokΓ© Transporter GB- weβre just not *quite* ready yet. (1/2)
Took a small detour from FRLG on Switch today to see if I could implement a complete randomizer on cart via ACE. Success!
I intend to complete the National Dex entirely using this method on a single cartridge on stream Soonβ’
Unfortunately you would need to replace the battery in order for it to hold a save again, but you would be able to bring back your previous save if it was backed up already!
just in case. I'd suggest backing up your save when using PTGB regardless, just in case something happens with the program. While it is designed to be as stable as possible, but bugs do sneak their way in sometimes. I'd hate to be the reason why someone loses a special Pokemon from their childhood π
You're absolutely not bothering me, I'm always happy to answer questions!! π
The language update is going very well! I have a handful of translators working on the text while I update the back end. If you're worried about your battery, I'd suggest getting a Joey Jr and backing up your save file-
My favorite part is when they talk about the βbatch releases distributed globally circa Q4 2015β for a program that started development in 2023 and didnβt have its first full release until 2024 π
SO UPDATE
Apparently there is now a Wiki(?) page about Poke Transporter GB on AliExpress and itβsβ¦ something!
I was going to make a thread going through everything thatβs wrong about it but genuinely I donβt think I can. To part of the video it becomes!!
www.aliexpress.com/p/wiki/artic...
Itβs under the MIT license- I guess bootleg is the wrong termβ¦ sorry about that! π
Seems to work fine! Iβm not sure how high quality the board itself is, but Iβll definitely open it up if I make a video about it
Interestingly it *is* v1.2.0, despite the listings going up before I released it in October. I appreciate them keeping up with that at least! π
After you told me was when I got curious about what the quality was!! π
Thatβs a good idea!! I also can show off what I had in mind for how to load the program while developing it (which was mainly the Wii homebrew method)!
I have *super* mixed feelings on it and Iβd love to talk more about it, but I donβt want to seem like Iβm endorsing a bootleg product, especially since itβs my own code lol. Legally, theyβre not in the wrong since itβs an open source project, but like- idk. Itβs weird lol
So I may or may not have gotten curious and bought that version of PTGB thatβs on AliExpress π¬. I wonβt lie, itβs very surreal seeing something I made on a cartridge that I didnβt make myself.
Should I make a video talking about it? Or would that bring more attention to a bootleg of my own program?
Klang π
Thank you!! Ultimately ended up being a case where I didnβt check if an arrayβs index went below zero, only if it went outside the arrayβs upper bounds π
It's always a great feeling fixing a bug that's been stumping you for months!
...anywho, here's a completely definitely 100% unrelated update for Poke Transporter GB! Woo!!
github.com/GearsProgres...
Thank you all for your continued support and hereβs to a positive 2026!!
Iβm really hoping to get more done with PokΓ© Transporter GB- Iβve been working on a bug that popped up about a month ago thatβs been *killing* me, but thatβs sorta how it goes. Language support and alternate transfer methods are still hopefully coming in the first few months of this year!!
Happy New Year to those on the east coast! This year has been a rollercoaster overall, but personally Iβve had a lot of positive things to look back on. Hoping 2026 continues in that direction!
Hello!! Language compatibility is currently pretty far in development, and Iβm hoping to release it around the start of the new year. I donβt have a specific date in mind, but Iβm planning on getting a bunch of work done on it between Christmas and New Years!!
Howdy! Sorry for the late reply- would you be able to go to the credits screen of PTGB and press select, and send me a screenshot of that? That should help me debug your issue π
