"Conversation with an Inhuman Acidity" Vessel watches a candle burning, flames crackling as he cups his hands under the wik, picking it up, calmly holding the flame as it flickers. He is holding Key's entire essence. He knows to treat it carefully. He would never dream of insulting him, in this state. It's a rare show of affection, from him, of which only Key is aware of. The others know him to be a cruel degredant of harsh words and dry, cynical humor. But he was never one for fitting externally-perceived molds, anyway. Even from that of his alternative counterparts. He speaks softly to the little burgundy flame. Not saying much... but not speaking within meaninglessness. ***** "Everything is a trade off, of sorts. I am only as lovable as I am useful. I have to give you reasons to like me. Who would do anything otherwise? ....What can I offer for you?" *sigh* ...I hear you say it. Some of this is a lie. "Deliver us" "There is no 'right thing' left to do, here... Just rest..." Joseph holds Key's face in his hands, hypnotizing him with the swirls in his eyes. He sings to the beast, offering a distraction from his addled mind and self-awareness of his gruesome appearance. Key holds eye contact, swaying lightly within Joseph's touch. His mind altered, he forgets who he is. He forgets who he was. And allows for himself to rest. "We can come back later..." His mate's disembodied voice says to him, speaking softly, comforting... as he drifts off ento the ether. "Branded Loyalty" Always said I wanted a tattoo, but never had thought of what to get... Then I realized, maybe a tattoo isn't enough. Maybe I want to be branded with my mate, matching scars of intention. A permanent, forever mark of devotion, one that cannot be removed nor recovered, but subtle enough that if the matching recipient is no longer with me, it can still look pretty on it's own merit, while retaining a meaning that only I may know, after that. She's just barely in frame, her forehead poking up over the camera's view. She keeps her knuckle held just above her top lip as she speaks, keeping her mouth hidden, her blanket clutched tightly in her other hand, held just below the first. "Yes, ma'am." "PADAK PADAK" Drawing of Flatfish, in the ocean, camera angle low, waters dark behind him, looking up to the surface, tears escaping his eyes as his mouth stands slightly agape. He's bent around in a turning posture, as if he's whipped around to look back up immediately after hitting the water. ***** Watched "Padak" Horror/musical movie for the first time. Best movie involving fish, exestential hopelessness, & empty redemption that I've ever seen. Flatfish made it, at the end. The others had died. He made it, but how will he cope, now? Sometimes the good guys don't win. Sometimes Justice does not happen. Sometimes the bad guys get what they wanted, and they became broken, too. Sometimes everybody loses. Sometimes it just doesn't seem to matter. Sometimes you're just a fish in a tank. Just a fish on a plate. Just a fish in the sea. But it's worth it, to try, I think. There will be more fish in the sea. More in the tank. More on plates. This movie fully encapsulated the feeling of "nothing matters, & life will keep on moving, with or without you" for me. The excitement is the rush, of living while you can. It makes risks seem pointless to listen to, sometimes. Everyone will die, one day. You, me, everybody. At some point. If it's decided you're already dead, why not try, anyway, then? If every action is wrong, right, or pointless, why not just do -something-? Something is better than nothing. And sitting in nothingness will not make it go away. So do -something-. Even if it's meaningless. Maybe eventually it will begin to mean something. "CHILDISH" Key holding Joseph close to his chest, curled up tightly in his lap. Joseph had a sudden flurry of emotion, and had began to sob, shaking and holding his hands close to his chest as he curled in on himself. The tears came unexpectedly... Nothing in particular had provoked them. ...Key understood. The same has happened to him, before. He held his mate close as he sobbed, providing security without smothering, soothing as he spoke softly, giving the same gentle reassurances Joseph would often give him. He began to rock them, a bit, as Joseph began to come down from the height of his spell. ◼️◼️◼️ Joseph's shaking gradually subsided, and he breathed deeper, softer breaths once more. Having thoroughly tired himself out, he grew quiet, teetering along the fuzzy edge of sleep and solemn sorrow. Usually this would happen the other way around, their roles and sizes reversed. But not today. As Joseph rested quietly, half-awake and half-asleep, Key continued to pet along his side, down his arm and over his hip, a repetitious and thoughtful motion, providing them both a peaceful mindset for the while. After some time, Key took inspiration from silent reflection, and offered to further support, to the one curled in his lap like a little cat. Though outwardly appearing as King, he spoke softly, like Key, exhibiting the duality of their prescence, both wanting to be there to comfort Joseph. His soft rambling was enough to further lull his mate to a restful state of mind, while still residing in his own silent trance. ***** Joseph is a symbol of healing. He is not "designed" after one person, but that of many, who's attributes have made him the person he is, documented as i've seen throughout his and Key's journey together.
