I’m sick of hearing about trans girls dying. If ur not trans femme what the fuck are you doing to save trans girls? Are u helping us in our careers? Are u helping us get medicine? Are u refusing to gossip about us? Are you giving us the preferential treatment we need to survive this hostile world?

There's a media push to treat transphobic violence as something that is perpetrated by evil individuals (rednecks, young men in bars, etc) who murder out of ignorant hatred. The truth is, trans people are murdered quietly and systematically by the institutions that are supposed to protect them.

Trans day of remembrance. Don't just focus on those trans people who have been murdered by strangers in public. Also remember the trans people who were denied healthcare, allowed to die in prison, encouraged to kill themselves by their loved ones, buried under the wrong name by their families.
