The movie is more or less an entirely different story. The most telling single change is that in the movie, everyone has hard science professions - in the book, they bring along an π’π―π΅π©π³π°π±π°ππ°π¨πͺπ΄π΅. The novel is much more "literary" in the sense that it cares about language and internal experience.
WE'RE LIKE 40 BUCKS OFF OF 8K PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAKE A LOOK SO I CAN SAY WE MADE IT IN MY WEEKLY UPDATE TOMORROW!!!
On the editing grindset again today. Protoplastic is going to be finished soon, mark my words.
SHOW ME THE CHAMPION OF LIGHT
What is best in life? Wizards with bizarre super powers getting into increasingly abstract duels with one another.
I know you're just making a joke, but magic systems are Sick, Actually. I wish to go on believing that joy is possible.
Some friends of mine were getting into HxH so I have Nen in my brain now. I crave detailed taxonomies and drawing up radar charts.
Suddenly gripped by the urge to write a really complicated magic system.
Just finished up a blog post about how I prepared for, and continue prepping for my Shadowdark/ Caverns of Thracia campaign. If you're like me and prefer improvisation and light work to Blorb and legwork, give it a read. Hell, give it a read anyway!

Oh, that's what that is? Wild.
No, don't you see? It's worth putting up with parasites and dying during childbirth if it means that the 0.01% of magic people get to have cool mythic adventures.
All right, time to write some islands. Protoplastic is going to update to 0.6 soon.
The final KS campaign day is here for the βTea or Coffee, Stars, and Gravityβ anthology: www.kickstarter.com/projects/526... - Letβs have one last surge! Appreciate all the excited backers who have pledged. #sff #fantasy #book #ks #booksky #tea #coffee
PokΓ©mon has got to be the only piece of Japanese media I know of where even hardcore fans collectively decided to just not bother using the Japanese names outside of a handful of human characters. Everyone tacitly accepted there were just too many nouns to memorize twice.
If you ask someone how Into the Odd has streamlined their games, they will probably mention removing the "to hit" roll and just rolling damage.
I blasphemously ask the question: can we re-incorporate accuracy and missed attacks with Into the Odd without turning it into a major slog?

I'm not suggesting it's the only worthwhile way to make an RPG, nor even making a definite pronouncement on the subject at all. However, it's certainly true that the OC/neo-trad style is vastly more popular these days, and I can't help but wonder if that was always how it was going to end up.
I'm seen some really fantastic CoC OCs given lavish art and backstories, really treating the source material more like building blocks than framework.
It makes me wonder if "princess play" (neutral valence) is the crab of tabletop roleplaying, the final form it ultimately assumes given a long enough time, beside which all of us who want to do lateral problem solving are niche enthusiasts.
Not a single description, just bits and pieces from various essays and posts, along with seeing player character art get posted on Pixiv that looks... not recognizably like Call of Cthulhu as I know it, ha. A hyperreal extract of the idea of cosmic horror molded into high-detail personae.
I'm currently in an Impossible Landscapes campaign, and it's wild by contrast to read about the Japanese Call of Cthulhu scene. The shift in focus from redshirt investigators getting one-shotted by reading books to detailed supernatural OCs is a really interesting evolution.
I don't know if you mean "Transformers that came out within the last ten years" or "any Transformers after G1" but I'm going to tell you to watch Beast Wars either way.
At last, Protoplastic 0.5 is now available to the general public! Check out the most recent version of my plastic robot Citizen Sleeper/Monster Hunter clone.

Pigeon The most commonly used instant messaging service, named in honor of the recently de-extincted carrier pigeon. Capable of transmitting text, images, sound, and video in real time. Can also send other file types, but not open or display them. Ahoy The other commonly used instant messaging service. A few years older, with a slightly clunkier design than Pigeon, but a significant contingent of people (especially those from the first wave of noosphere usage) still refuse to switch to Pigeon, so many inheritors just end up running both and sighing about it. Colloquy The other other instant messaging service. The newest of the three, with a few zealous adherents. An ambitious project possessing a number of innovative features not found in Pigeon or Ahoy, but less polished than the former, lacking a handful of capabilities that some considered deal breakers.
The recent fragmentary exodus away from Discord to a dozen different Poob-adjacent platforms has me thinking of this set of services I wrote for a science fiction setting back in 2017.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! Well deserved.
Congratulations to all the winners this year!
