Buttigieg for President!
Buttigieg for President!
I am tempted to see that concept applied to certain Supreme Court judges, but I'm too much of a "rule of law" kinda guy to actually support the notion.
And when the inevitable consequences arise, they'll blame the liberals.
Well, I was almost right in my prediction that Mr. Trump would back off on his tariffs on Canada and Mexico. As I suspected, he was just posturing, and is now declaring victory -- even though his "victory" is shambolic.
Roll over, Descartes!
There is but one response to Mr. Trump that can preserve your sanity: revel in the destruction he is wreaking on America. Laugh as the idiots who voted for him realize just how wrong they were. In a democracy, the voters get what they deserve. And they richly deserve what Trump will do to them.
Proposal for a button: "You voted for him. Now bend over and take what you voted for. Har, har, har."
"...and in other news, Russia has demanded that the US return Alaska. It has offered to pay $287 billion in compensation, which is the original price in current dollars, with 5% annual interest for the 158 years of American ownership. China will help Russia with a loan..."
If it were less, atmospheric density would be lower, we wouldn't be able to breathe as well, fires would be weaker, bombs would fall slower, trees would grow higher, weather would be weaker, and we would be taller.
Thanks for that link. I should have found it myself. It makes it clear that Amazon is behaving in an honorable manner. It may not go the extra mile, as implied by an active DEI program, but it is certainly not doing anything wrong.
I have mixed feelings about this. I never trust individual reports on the Internet -- too much disinformation. I did some background research and I found lots of partisan condemnations but not a single coldly objective analysis. I'll poke around some more but draw no conclusions yet.
Republicans are outraged that a Christian bishop had the insolence to preach Christian mercy to the President.
What does that tell us about Republicans?
Here's an interesting thought: Mr. Trump might actually be beneficial by bringing about such intense anger that he triggers a revolution. Trumpsters hope that this would lead to a civil war, but in fact, the great majority of revolutions in the world in the last 50 years have not led to civil wars.
By pardoning every one of the January 6th traitors, Mr. Trump shows that he considers loyalty to him to be more important than the law. He has shown his brownshirts that they can commit any crime without consequences.
No, that was clumsy sarcasm.
Your sarcasm lacks punch.
I think it's better for the platform as a whole to enforce minimum standards of courtesy and decency. We don't want this platform to end up like X or Facebook.

Yes, Nazis are bad. Copying their behavior is worse.
I'm not calling you names.
Your comment was not courteous. You should delete it.
It is preferable to be rational.
I am reporting this comment.
Wouldn't you rather have peace?
That's true of many people, and obviously true of you, but not me. I'm a rationalist.
I doubt that.
No, you do not want to believe that Mr. Trump is a felon. You believe only what you want to believe.
I have reported your comment as a death threat.
Nope. There really is such a thing as objective truth. Read some of the writings of the men who wrote the Constitution.
The essence of conspiracy theories is the the attribution of illogically excessive powers to hidden people. The powers of powerful people are precisely defined in law.
