Got a gigantic crack in my windshield suddenly, I am going to go crazy.
Lotta people just love the sound of their own voice and assume everyone else does too

CORUM OF THE SILVER HAND
My take on the"Smiledog" image from the old creepypasta
smile.jpg
Easily the only interesting take on a character Nolan ever had, probably on accident lol.
Always loved how the lighting and textures in og Demons Souls could make your armor look like completely different materials.
In one area its made of polished jade or seaglass, in another it looks like a stageplay costume of tin and aluminum.
I wonder how intentional that was
Toth was 66 in '92, in comics years he might as well have been Methuselah.
One of the old guard who outlived plenty of his cohort, watching the artform shift and change drastically in the US and Europe, (in directions he infamously disliked).
What was it like for him to see Akira the first time?
The Akira explosion.
I can't help but imagine that Toth saw the titanic black explosion spread. He of all people would understand the gravity of it as an undertaking.
Otomo hatching all those lines when it could easily be an ink wash.
It could be based on a panel from the manga I'm forgetting, or Toth just cooking up something for an insert in the early Dark Horse issues. I might be seeing significance that isn't there
But I don't know, there's something there that I can't shake.
It's probably all the hatching on the rubble.
Is this Tetsuo in the grip of his madness? One of the psychic children screaming out in terror? Akira himself, just before the end?
Or is it some unseen child of Neo Tokyo, witnessing the end of their world, imagining they brought it about?
I love how it captures the exact mood of Akira, but indistinctly.
It's incredibly personal, a hidden moment.
How the potency of childhood fantasy can scare us later in life, when we know the value of things (or at least think we do).
An Akira tribute by Alex Toth. The shadow of a young figure, raising their hands alongside twin explosions.
Of the many artist tributes out there, I think about this Akira piece by Alex Toth often.
Otomo feels like someone who is the exact antithesis of Toths philosophy; pure hyper-maximimalism over stripped-down gestural brevity.
I can't help but wonder what Toth thought of Akira.
βOne of the saddest aspects of Tatjana Wood's death is that many who say they admire her work as a colorist are sharing screenshots of the bad recreation that DC has been using for decades, instead of the original (here also with an essential text omitted in the reissue)β
Watching Mushishi again, it's been a while
Bernie Wrightson's Monster
Judge Dredd pointing his baton at you. In the background, a trash heap comes to horrifying life.
Stand clear, citizen. This garbage dump is hostile.
That new Gorillaz video is better than anything they've done since Plastic Beach. Very palpable bittersweet feeling, it feels like an appropriate ending.
It's interesting that the undercurrent of the project became a kind of abject sadness about the world just getting worse.
How the hell can you lift Ishii like that
Oh no! The unspoken answer to "what must be done?" sure is getting louder!
starting a cult based around Duckman
I wish US/EU media understood the SHARED TEMERITY of the impacable rivalry.
"Fuck it, fuck you, fuck the reason we're actually here, fuck myself, fighting you is so soul-deep fulfilling & nourishing that I'll commit to doubling down on the fight to my own detriment, bc I know you'd do it too."
Hope this is the last one, let it go on a high note.
that new Gorillaz video got me feeling like
