Poker and basketball, love hearing how two of my passions have become entangled. Interesting back story and credit to you @stephnoh.bsky.social for grinding with little to your name back in your 20s, impressive stuff
I’m 4 episodes in, so yes to an extent
I don’t get freaked out that often anymore, but any facehugger scene gets me uncomfortable

Thoughts on Penda?
They’ve stopped podcasting I’m afraid. Could try the Buzz Beat Podcast where I’m now doing some content with others
- No evidence of deep range — prefers to dribble in for a more manageable look even if open from deep.
- More fluid shooting off movement going to his left than right
- Looked more comfortable as an off-dribble shooter when stepping into shots.
- The majority of his bad misses came off the dribble
- Shooting mechanics don't lend themselves to shot versatility off movement/dribble. Refinement needed.
- Relocates well off dribble drives, finds open pockets
- Appears more comfortable from the corners, concern about beyond the break NBA distance 3s.
- Didn’t attempt an off-dribble 3 in first 5 games; hit first movement 3 after 17 games, but grew into it over the season.
- Relies heavily on stationary catch-and-shoot — very limited shot versatility
- Defenders consistently went under screens, dared him to shoot — rarely drew hard closeouts
- Missed a wide-open game-winning OT 3 vs. St. John’s
VJ Edgecombe's 3-Point Shooting
I watched all 153 of VJ Edgecombe's three-point attempts, here’s a thread of what I found:🧵
- Nice high release, but slow to get it off — needs system-generated open looks to be effective.
- Streaky shooter: started cold, got hot mid-season, then finished cold
Why I stepped back from SI and changed to substack. I’ll make less $ but at least I get to write about quality content
Kon Knueppel 3-Point Shooting Breakdown
I tracked all 207 of Kon Knueppel's three-point attempts. Here’s what I found:

Landry Fields could be a name to monitor as a potential addition to the Charlotte Hornets front office.
He worked closely with Hornets assistant general manager Dotun Akinwale, and has ties to co-owner Rick Schnall from his time in Atlanta.

Crazy… Never scored a free kick in a senior match before tonight and scores two at once. A Gunner dreamland
Incredible, both of those would be candidates best free kicks of a career and to do it twice in one game! BIG performance by Arsenal this
LaMelo Ball’s season has been a wild ride. Flashes of brilliance, frustrating setbacks, and big questions about what’s next.
I dove deep into the ups, downs, and what the future really looks like for one of the league’s most electric young stars.

Exactly the national championships game you want. Every possession feels like it means something. Impressive comeback by the Gators so far, can they come all the way back?
Any insight into what Kon was like in high school with his pull-up game?
Where is Kon currently on your board? Looking like a lock for my top 5, could be as high as 3 for me depending where I come out on Ace after my deep dive
Game of Zones was the peak for NBA Twitter. Serious but fun minded discussion and content, how times have changed…

I recently featured in this newly released documentary about LaMelo Ball’s career.
It’s a great watch, I even learned a lot myself.

Guessing this was sent during the 1st quarter, yeah it was rough on both ends for NSJ. I will say, I didn’t see signs of low confidence as he kept firing away all night. He just missed shots.
He’s almost completely dependent on hitting jumpers on how much he affects the game.
I am uncertain about the Hornets' plans for Mark Williams for the rest of the season, but I have confirmed he has returned to Charlotte and is in town during the All-Star break.
