Easily one of the best things I have ever seen at the theatre. Both times completely floored me. Can't wait to watch it on NT at Home
NEXT TO NORMAL will be available to stream on NT at Home from 2 December 🎉
Experience Michael Longhurst’s hit Donmar Warehouse production of Tom Kitt & Brian Yorkey’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical all over again.

Screenshot of the letters page of the Times, 7 November 2025, showing a letter from a range of school leaders backing the government’s Curriculum & Assessment Review.
Proud of the wide support the Curriculum and Assessment Review has attracted from across the educational spectrum.
Labour wants to set up our children for tomorrow. The work of @beckyfrancis.bsky.social and colleagues is an essential step forward in securing standards and opportunity.
(FWIW, I think the new curriculum review does a really good job at not damaging a system that is working while making sensible recommendations for additions)
We've been working with an incredible school in Milton Keynes who've been using our primary English resources brilliantly to improve pupil outcomes and give teachers more time back. You can read about what they've been doing, and the impact it's had, here: www.thenational.academy/blog/how-a-s...
Excited to share that we’ve just launched a new feature on Oak: you can now save units in My Library 🎉📚 I'd massively recommend saving the 'Small Island' unit in there as we have fantastic new lessons coming featuring masterclasses from director Rufus Norris and playwright Helen Edmundson
Do you want to stop teaching ‘An Inspector Calls’? If so, I’m going to spend most of my 40 minutes later gushing over an incredible play you can teach in its place.
2/2 Launching with English, maths and science, with history and languages to follow, our resources will help prisoners build knowledge and skills, supporting rehabilitation and reducing reoffending.
Find out more:
And also how you can use English Language to introduce pupils to an even greater diversity of writers
I am really looking forward to this. I am going to be talking about why ‘Leave Taking’ and ‘Small Island’ would be great additions to your English curriculum 🌎
I love these videos we filmed with Matt Goodfellow. We’ve got a whole unit on the incredible ‘The Final Year’ coming very, very soon

So excited that these first @oaknational.bsky.social units have been released. Thanks for all the positive feedback so far. Primary coming v soon! Please use and adapt these to help you in your contexts! #TeamRE
Couldn’t agree with this more. Overly policing the canon of literature massively risks undermining the very nature of what literary history and development actually is.
I absolutely adore this play. The more I read it, the more poignant and powerful it becomes. So much better than An Inspector Calls too, and a much more significant part of the development of post war British drama.
This is incredible. Well done Ed!
Sorry for late reply. Please can I be added to the Team English list?
Good luck Ed! Wrap up warm 😂
In my happy place 🤘🎸🤡🕺
As someone married to someone who did Latin to A-Level, I couldn’t agree with this more. The language advantage from understanding Latin is staggering.
Thank you to Oak National Academy #geography lead Graeme Schofield for blogging about the GA/Oak partnership which has provided hundreds of geography lessons for KS1 & KS2 and currently working together to do similar for KS3.

Have you met the poet James Carter? He's been helping us with some really fun and exciting new poetry content @oaknational.bsky.social. If you haven't met him, you really should get to know him tinyurl.com/2uvzft7a
I cannot wait to see this in a couple of weeks. More musicals should be based on impenetrable Russian novels
I am really excited to be contributing to this in a couple of weeks. Will be sharing what we have learnt about large-scale English curriculum design @oaknational.bsky.social
