MSP is defined by small cozy nice-to-haves that alongside the need-to-haves, bundled together, make for the best livability for the money of just about anywhere in America.

That's what we've been fighting for. And basic human decency. And love of our neighbors.

We need your help bringing two pregnant women back home from ICE detention! Their loved ones and community are asking for financial assistance to support the family during these difficult times.

So i understand (though disagree w) local PD refusing to intervene w ICE. But now that we have bounty hunters doing ice work, what is their legal standing when they brandish guns or run red lights, etc? Have officials commented on this change?

All of you made me feel so much love today. This occupation has exhausted me and at times has broken my heart. But the dedication of our community and neighbors has been the fuel I’ve needed to wake up to fight another day alongside you. ❤️

Whelp. Just spent 2 days of my spare time watching congressional hearings and migrating all my stuff from Google to Proton.

So, this is lovely news.

Now what to do. 🤷‍♀️

I'm done for today, I think.

The people of Minneapolis and Minnesota kicked Bovino out of our state and got Kristi Noem fired. We still have a long way to go but this is because of the love and resistance of our neighbors and the resiliency of our immigrant community.

Letting Kristi Noem give a press conference before she realizes she’s fired is a pretty hardcore start to white history month

Let's go, folks. Mega Vouch! If you can chip in, please help. Thanks to everyone doing what they can for our neighbors here in Minnesota. 💜

Updating the occupation/medical comparison for March:

Now it's like when things are *slightly* better and you're just out of the hospital. You're still *pretty damn sick*—but now everyone expects you to do normal things, not just focus on surviving. You have less support. In some ways it's harder.

Half of Americans back abolishing ICE amid Trump crackdown, poll finds YouGov poll shows 50% support as Kristi Noem defends ‘terrorist’ claim and shutdown drags on

Repeat after me; “abolish ICE” is the mainstream position.

The thing about landlords is: no one needs them. A developer takes land, property, whatever, invest capital to create something. Ok. A landlord? If they weren’t there, someone else would do it. They just happen to be the one with the capital to own something. It’s the most useless role ever

Too bad there's no opposition party that could run a 48 hour Youtube telethon program with 48 elected officials each programming one hour to point out the awfulness of the war on Iran. That would definitely not get any media or other attention.

Even during the literal worst of the pandemic, before major rental assistance came online towards the end of the year, landlords in Minnesota were getting >93% of their rent by the end of the month

I was proud to author an ordinance in 2023 moving mandating a 30-day rental pre-eviction notice in Minneapolis.

Sadly, we’re barely going to pass the temporary 60-day notice tomorrow and then face the threat of a veto.

Thank you Saint Paul for being pro-human.

This is Minneapolis:

I'm on the admin team of a hyperlocal mutual aid group. Today someone DM'ed me with a very complex/challenging question & asked "is this in your wheelhouse?"

Me: "Oh, definitely not. But almost nothing I've been doing for the last 3 months is. Let's figure this out."

This is a terrific article and worth a read for people outside the area who are interested in stuff that MN has been doing to resist ICE.

Still getting through yesterday's hearing but watching the R's rip into Noem is a weirdly pleasant change of pace.

I couldn't watch the R's go in Bondi's hearing. The few I watched were so sycophantic that I was never going to make it through.

Idk why I'm watching these really. Hoping for change

It looks like Fabrizio Musacchio will have to start updating his page to add the "righteous killings" of over 500 already in Iran.

What a horrifying time to be alive. 💔

It’s wild that so called “affordable housing” providers were advocating for people to face eviction & have to sleep out on the street. Residents have already been subsidizing their nonprofits w/ millions in mutual aid for their tenants to pay their rents. Remember this next time they beg for money.

CommonBond's website: "We know that when people have a stable home, children do better in school, adults find wages to support their families, older adults maintain their independence, and neighborhoods can flourish" -- but apparently the faster you can evict people the better.

On the wall in her living room she posted big pieces of paper with the questions she asked the councilmembers. The posters were chock full of stickers, representing neighbors defended and supported. That was TWO MONTHS ago, and we’ve STILL got electeds handwringing about sustainable solutions.

"I fear some [council members] are indifferent." Have you paid someone's rent, organized a fundraiser, gone on patrol, found someone an attorney, done someone's laundry, delivered groceries, held a baby of someone sheltering in fear? "If not you may be too far removed to have good judgment."
