Long-time buddies Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were out for a pleasant van drive in Oklahoma when, all of a sudden, their lives would change.

off the top of my head

I'm not well-read on his work, but comes to mind first.

Oh, and: www.theatlantic.com/author/alex-...

I'd have to scrape through years of saved articles to list many, I don't sunscribe or follow, but they publish good people.

It's really fascinating how the Atlantic mixes it up, publishing thoughtful well-written pieces, and then also whatever this is.

If I had a nickel for every time Franz Ferdinand was involved in the precursor events of a world war, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice

Bio from his VC site:

Toni originally joined the startup ecosystem when he co-founded Uplister, a venture-backed music recommendation startup, in 2000. It was his role as the CEO of Oddpost, however, that proved to be a pivotal point in his career. After Yahoo acquired Oddpost in 2004 to form the basis of the new Yahoo Mail, which was then used by more than 250 million people worldwide, Toni joined Yahoo's executive ranks and created the Yahoo Developer Network.

Inspiring stuff.

It's wild how yahoo management still functions as a bona fide.

I think of them mostly as a company that bought and destroyed dozens of companies, got hacked every other week, and has just ridden their name recognition and early boomer/x cohort for all they're worth.

Among the many many many flaw in the Jurassic Splork Universe, this stands out.

Who on earth would grab a soda from someone else with a straw and cap and grab a slurp? As likely to be a sweet water+spit combo as anything else.

Kinda seems like that's what Jake Johnson was going for here too.

Still crazy that the president’s lawyer spent two days with Ghislaine Maxwell, she “cleared” him of wrongdoing and was almost immediately transferred to a more pleasant prison and nobody in the administration will explain it and the media acts like two large dots are just impossible to connect.

Not being on substack really isn't that big a lift.

We'll never have good platforms if we indulge bad ones.

FWIW, shopify is similar, just less visible.

But substack isn't even as "good" as shopify is in their domain.

Types of LED Dimmers
Not all dimmers work with LED lights. Here's an overview of the most common types of dimmers:
1. Trailing Edge Dimmers
• Best for LEDs: Designed specifically for LED lighting, these dimmers offer smooth dimming and minimize flickering.
• Low Power Compatibility: Ideal for the low wattage requirements of LED bulbs.
• Silent Operation: No buzzing or humming sounds.
2. Leading Edge Dimmers
• Older Technology: Often used for incandescent and halogen bulbs.
• May Not Be Compatible: Some LEDs can work with these dimmers, but compatibility must be checked.
3. Smart Dimmers
• Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Enabled: Allow remote control through mobile apps or voice assistants.
• Programmable Settings: Create schedules and automation.
• Modern Features: Ideal for smart home systems.
4. Rotary Dimmers
• Manual Adjustments: Use a knob to adjust brightness levels.
• Affordable and Simple: Ideal for homeowners who want basic functionality without innovative features.

It's so frustrating to have to read 3/4 of something and my preexisting knowledge and experience to determine that slop is slop.

Leading/trailing edge: describes electrical waveform.
Rotary: describes a fucking knob.
