Also something something girly literature cooties something something masculine science
I think some bad writing is bad in the same way that scientific writing is bad, so the argument is then that it's not bad, it's science-y, so trying to apply literary criteria isn't appropriate.
This is to answer one question so I couldn't go too deep, but I'm reccing @wolvendamien.bsky.social article: afutureworththinkingabout.com?p=6422 and Justin Brown's siliconcanals.com/sc-d-i-spent...
Saw this over on Masto, was too lazy to copy a link and post it here, glad Mr. Blabalino has done the work for all of us
Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.

2) lower the temp on your water heater so that if someone were to turn on the hot water and have a medical incident before they got to the cold, they wouldn't scald themself.
I can't read the article, but I'll mention two things that the graphic leaves out, carried from my old day job: 1) change hinges if you need to so that your bathroom doors open outward, not inward, so if someone falls inside you can still open the door

There are five main objections to building AI data centers in space.

When you need to defy the laws of physics, that's where you get into trouble.

Which is a real shame and I have a lot of feelings about it that I'll spare you, but if you want to watch it but can't afford it, drop me a line and we'll work something out!
One clarification that's probably important - the VOD will be available *for purchase* after. This is both because we want to be able to keep doing cool things, and also because if the Puppies nonsense taught me anything, it's that trolls are largely dissuaded by paywalls.
β¦That "Generative AI" does not tell you the truth, that it doesn't give you facts, & that when its outputs conform to factual reality, it's by fucking happenstance. These systems are not all-in-1 answer production machines, they are collections of stats & regularities spat out via fucking dice rolls
How many times, in how many contexts, in how many ways am I going to have to say that this is what "AI" doesβ what it fundamentally *is*β before it sinks in? That all Bullshit engines do is statistically correlate training data & inputs via their weights to produce outputs you are likely to acceptβ¦
