While 'forest bathing' (shinrin-yoku), I paused to admire Mama Maple Log busily giving 'birth' to numerous Deer Ferns which are nourished by her decomposing body. I was lucky to see this, as come the later Spring, these ferns will disappear having completed their life cycle.

4Ever Fashionable Footwear. 1991 October (24-27) was the Girl Guides National Music Trainers Conference in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, during which we had a 'whiteout'.Luckily a block from the hotel was a CanTire where I bought size 5 boys snowmobile boots.These are they.
They will be buried with me.

Indeed and add the woodchuck to that noble heritage as well.

A cold (5c) but sunny drive to Ladysmith's Old Town Bakery for their world famous Cinnamon Buns!, then a detour to St Pete's Churchyard for 'snow-dropping'. While there heard a mating pair of Great Horned Owls calling to each other.

As part of an old English custom, here is my husband doing his best to wassail our King Apple Tree by singing and pouring apple cider on its roots. We hope by doing this we will get a good harvest.

WASSAIL!

You Apples and Cherries and many a Peare:
For more or lesse fruits then they will bring,
As you do give them Wassailing.”
Yesterday we 'wassailed'(sang and poured apple cider on its roots)of our King Apple Tree. Anyone else?
