Wow! A lost short film by George Méliès from 1897 (!!) is discovered by Library of Congress archivists! It was in a box of old films donated by the great-grandson of a traveling showman who staged film screenings to astounded 19th century audiences.

If I come across this movie, I will watch it to the end no matter what. As a person with the last name of Houston, its most famous line has haunted me since the movie was released.
My six year old discovered my complete Calvin and Hobbes, and is now learning to read it. Calvin may not be the best role model, but he does love Spaceman Spiff.
I love when people share stuff from their niche areas of interest and expertise. I always learn something and, often, am corrected. If I only learned about the core subjects of my interests I’d be a useless encyclopedia with no context for anything.
Bookending my birthday are Kramer Vs Kramer, Friday the 13th and The Empire Strikes Back, (not the happiest ending for SW movie). Not sure I like this game.
Highly recommend the documentary “Wick is Pain” for some interesting back story to the production.

I think living with a ton of old tech displayed in my home has helped my 6 year old with this. He knows what to do with an old phone. He still calls a typewriter a computer, but we'll get to that.

That's the loudest I've heard a crowd actually SING the words of the national anthem in a long time. Kind of nice.
If a post contains something outrageous , but includes no sources or evidence, take a minute to fact check it before you repost. There's enough going on that we don't need to amplify incorrect info. It just obscures the real outrages and makes it easier for bad actors to dismiss them.
