The case for proportional representation is undeniable.
CTV reports on how our democracy distorting voting system fuels regional divisions, and how proportional representation can fix it.
@mark-carney.bsky.social, will you champion a system where every vote truly counts?

Pierre Poilievre Pulls Another Trump
YouTube video by The Rational National
Polievres desire to use fear to override our Charter of Rights & Freedoms is an extreme over reach of political power. The "Not Withstanding" clause was never intended to give politicians an easy way to circumvent proper process and would set a dangerous precedent!

Get ready to see Pierre Poilievre doing absolutely everything he can to destroy Mark Carney. Heβs devastated and desperate after losing a historic lead in the polls in record time. Heβll lie constantly. Heβll be utterly hypocritical. His problem is that it will just remind everyone how toxic he is.

If the media is going to ask stupid questions they should expect such responses. Maybe they should ask the opposition leader about his security clearance.

Unlike in Ontario where only 45% of eligible voters actually cast a ballot, 82.5% of Germans voted. I think this is because Germans know, regardless of who they vote for, they will have representation.

Aside from the primary benefits of the popular vote being proportionally aligned with the seats of power in government. The biggest win in my opinion is voter engagement.

I recently read a comparison of the results of our Ontario election with the recent election in Germany. Germany (like most of Europe) utilizes a proportional representation electoral system.

VoteWell
A strategic voting tool for the 2025 ON provincial election
The anticipated low voter turnout is very sad to hear. It's expected to be worse than 2022 when only 18% of eligible voters gave Doug Ford a strong majority. He knows this, it's why he called a February snap election.
Prove him wrong!

Ontario, if you want Doug Ford to be defeated, vote strategically.
Thatβs it. Thatβs the post.
Actually, thereβs one more thing. If you want Doug Ford to be defeated, YOU HAVE TO VOTE.

If you're like me and haven't received your voter card in the mail yet, don't worry. You don't need it to vote. Just bring your ID, such as your driver's license which lists your name and address. That's all you need to vote.

The longer term plan is buying US made nuclear reactors which require enriched uranium that is only available from New Mexico. There are better & cleaner options which would strengthen our energy independence, but that's not part of Doug's plan!

Doug Ford's short term electricity plan is buying GE made gas fired turbines. I was surprised to learn most of Ontario's gas used to fire these turbines is imported from Pennsylvania & Ohio.

One of the hardest things to watch, as the United States circles the drain with the real potential of taking the world with it, is the unrelenting debate about whether the Democrats were too woke, or not woke enough?
I wouldβve voted for a literal potted plant to help keep Trump from power.

How Canada Got Hooked on the U.S. Economy
Canada is incredibly reliant on access to U.S. markets. It didn't have to be this way, writes Stephen Maher.
βThe once inevitable ascension of Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is now in doubt, since former central banker Mark Carney looks like he might be better suited to managing Trump.β
βIronically, Trump may have done Canadians a favor by pushing them to do things they ought to have done long ago.β
