I think there’s something special about Black Americans both being aware of the worst this country is and nonetheless working for its improvement because we also know how special it can be. There are forms of patriotism that aren’t built on ignorance.

The worst part: this 6yo girl needed her father's care and empowerment, and he deliberately put her in harm's way. Now she's dead.

Republicans understand this by intuition, use it, but deny it vehemently. Democrats (may) know this theoretically, but do not understand it.

The truth is… ignorance, arrogance, and bigotry are core to the US' identity and have been for a very long time. The more we try to root it out, the more it burrows itself in us. That's the problem. Some of y'all need to look inward and make the same demands of yourself that you make of the dems.
I can't count on most folks to have my back when someone is being explicitly racist toward me. I have seen colleagues and friends act worse than the dems they condemn in moments where I needed them to have my back. What good is it to dunk on the libs when you're a bad ally?
Not saying the dems couldn't do more — they can and must! I'm just tired of the same old "the dems suck" arguments I've been hearing for 20 years? I know it feels good to call out the pathetic little signs(😩), or fence sitting on Palestine (😤), or the kente cloth kneeling (😬)… but…
Unpopular opinion, I think some folks spend way too much time complaining about the dems in leadership. Most of the folks complaining are the same kind of milquetoast liberals that dems in office are, making the same kinds of mistakes, impacting my life just as much.

I've been part of reviews for DoD, NIH, and NSF that have gone the extra mile to listen to veterans and people in active duty so that we can make healthcare better for them. But, yeah, sure, treating soldiers and vets with respect is "woke." Okay. Sure. Got it.
