#NolaSky does anyone know if there are knife sharpeners who are working at any of the farmer's markets?
Or anyone you recommend for service elsewhere?
I just have a few knives but they cannot safely go any longer without some love. Thank you!

Yardi Gras costume: Green clothing and green wig with lots of fake flower embellishments and a homemade fountain fascinator. Corner of Burgundy and Montegut with the St. Ann parade second line, approx 10:15 AM Mardi Gras day. Brightly costumed revelers fill the street in the background.
Three women in green, pink, and pink gradation wings fix hair and makeup in a mirror above a mantel.
Seven people pose in a line in Marigny in outrageously good Mardi Gras costumes.
Two women stand on front steps in fantastic floral costume for Mardis Gras day.
Ayu and Bywater bakeries are my faves for KCs
I wish we could get the NFL Superbowl pregame and halftime show sign language streams trending! I love to watch them; it's two shows in one.
What a party! And two different languages this year: ASL and LSPR

There is a NOLAsky | NOLA Twitter feed that does the work for ya!
Bernice King said there is no question that βwe have made so much progress as a nation.β
Despite efforts to scrap DEI initiatives and the deportation of people from around the world, βthe inevitability is weβre so far into our diversity you canβt put that back in a box,β she said.
This month we're curious about those of you who have taken on Dry January! How's it going - what are you noticing?
The Mosley Institute for Leadership has a special offer through the end of the month, click through for more information.

Three people smiling at the camera in a nighttime selfie dressed in festive colorful clothing.
Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc parade featuring a banner stating, "I fear nothing but treachery." ~ Joan of Arc In the foreground a parade participant holds aloft a torch.
A puppet in the form of a white bird flies above the crowd. In the background is the top corner of a brick building and a dark slightly cloudy sky.
A parade krewe carries a blue and gold banner "Blessings" and a large Joan of Arc puppet comes behind. You can see many people watching the parade and buildings along Chartres Street.
Happy Carnival everyone! A sampling from Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc aka Joanie on a Pony (not pictured). With @elisasperanza.bsky.social.

A white and pink spider lily in gorgeous bloom with green leaves around the photo edge
An outdoor house concert in the 7th Ward. Three musicians play in the background and guests sit around the backyard and firepit.
Many blooms of dark pink camellia with yellow stamen and green leaves
Behind a chain link fence, a cylindrical black train car labeled for liquified petroleum gas is lettered in large script extending the height and length of the car: Ζ love thy neigbbor Ζ The photo is taken from a walking path. Curb, light pole, and trees are visible in the foreground of the photo

A morning photo in the Piazza della Santissima Annunziata with the equestrian statue of Ferdinando I de Medici and a yellow-orange hot air balloon in the background.
Interior photo of Galleria dell Accademia di Firenze. In the foreground is a gallery with red floors, vaulted ceilings. Statuary and art work along the walls. In the background is David di Michelangelo underneath a skylit dome. When you look closer, you can see a crowd of people surrounding the statue, they look maybe a quarter the size of David and serve to show the perspective of how large the statue is.
An example of a medieval tower that is still part of the build environment within Firenze. The stone materials are older than the adjoining buildings and there is no front entrance at street level. The old towers have all been modfied and modernized.
At Babae in Firenze, a traditional buchette del vino or "wine window" is in service. Pictured is our tour guide receiving wine for us. In the foreground is someone's hand holding a glass of wine. You cannot see the server through the small arched window. The well-dressed tour guide is wearing a long coat and purse in shades of taupe and yellow and has copper-colored hair; she almost perfectly matches the exterior walls of the restaurant, which are charmingly distressed.
Four more from Firenze, October 2025.
I was there on my own one day and with colleagues on two evenings. I do recommend our local tour guide, pictured, her name is Catherine Wallerman.
