Not what I wanna hear when itβs one of my biggest career goalsπ
Anywayyy if there are any history-related jobs in and around NW England, please do let me know π
Honestly makes me howl when companies have clearly used AI for their job descriptions, but then warn people not to use it for their applicationsπ€¦π»ββοΈ
And yet those who will never promote the use of AI in historical research canβt secure funding for their projects π« the projected landscape of historical research is filling me with existential dread
Disappointing to see historians I admire promote use of AI in their million β¬ research project aimed at uncovering marginalised voices!
AI has no role in historical research & should be rejected by every academic that cares about the future of our discipline.
Donβt let the fox into the hen house!
I'm super happy to say my latest article on Caribbean sinew populations has been published with the International Review of Social History. It is available (open access!) here: www.cambridge.org/core/journal...
Thanks, Lou. Will message you now
This is fantastic! We need more of what you're doing in this world. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
I apologise, I thought Iβd replied to this! Iβve recently finished my MA in Early Modern History so Iβm currently on the job hunt. But I want to do as much as I can in public history (writing, making bitesized videos about Britainβs links to slavery etc). Iβd love to hear your thoughts thoughπ
WE ARE SO BACK!!! π₯³
This is *all* I'm going to be talking about for the foreseeable future! #BBCGhosts #GhostsTheMovie Would LOVE a Yonderland movie as well...just sayingπ
But seriously. We are back! Next week we start shooting #bbcghosts the movie! Huge excitement in the camp, lots of splendid people joining us.
Congrats, Lou! Would love to give this a readπ
THAT'S MY HOMETOWN!πππ
YESSS THE GREENS HAVE WON! π
Yes, I did stay up to watch the by-election results. Glad to know I can still pull an all-nighter - I thought I'd lost that ability ages ago.
Could I have worded things more eloquently? Maybe. I'm not saying presenters from a Global Majority background don't exist, nor am I having a dig at White presenters, but I can't remember the last time I saw a GM person present a history documentary. If not me, then who? If not now, then when?
I come in at around the 1:16:00 mark and there are music breaks in between.
I was evidently really intense when discussing the lack of Global Majority representation in the media/broadcasting world (one of my biggest career goals ever is to become a presenter).

Completely forgot to mention on here that, last Monday, I was invited to be BBC Asian Network's 'Chai and Chat' guest at their BBC Radio Leeds studio - I'm still pinching myself!
I'll include the link below for anyone who is interested in giving it a listen. I was *very* nervous!
Congratulations! And the fact that itβs a graphic novel makes it so much more accessible for a wider audience, which is exactly what we need more of.
This is fantastic - Iβve added it to my reading list. Thanks for sharing! π
The way the transatlantic slave trade was taught in schools 10 years ago (if teachers ever bothered) was seriously concerning. It wasnβt until the final year of my undergraduate when I was taught it in depth. Hopefully things will have changed now, but Iβd love to sit in on a History lesson myself
I remember making a teaching pack full of resources for teaching the histories of slavery during my undergraduate (as part of our public history module assessment). I love that there are now more resources like this so teachers donβt shy away from teaching it. There really is no excuse!

Not forgetting St Helena under the English East India Company, or the very first sugar slave plantation colonies of Madeira Islands and Sao Tome under the Portuguese.
This is rather special. Marc Bloch was a titan of modern historiography, and a big influence on me as a young history student. He was a brilliant French medievalist murdered by the Gestapo for both his Jewishness and his contribution to French resistance, but they couldnβt kill his work
Definitely doing something right - I need to head to Waterstones and pick up a copy asap! Iβm very much looking forward to reading it (you knowβ¦for the βhistorically illiterateβ arguments ππ)
Forever and always a Springsteen fanππ»
This just reminded me of Rik Mayall (in the best way!)
White heart-shaped birthday cake decorated with buttercream icing with βIN MY PRIME YEARβ written on top of it in chocolate icing
So I turned another year older yesterday (18th January). My age [redacted] is a prime number, hence this message on my cakeππ
Determined to make this year a good oneπͺπ»
