A close-up view of a larger painting, showing just one small character: Luthien from Tolkien's Silmarillion, in gray clothing and long black hair. The painting is very rough and unfinished, and brushes and acrylic paint tubes surround the character for size.

talking with someone about this today, and their whole expression sharpened suddenly as they asked "is that why ICE is angry people have video from multiple angles?"

Some pen and marker creatures from the sketchbook.
Did a lil study of Frazettaβs palettes and used my new Miffy coin purse to hold my Caran dβAche crayons. Happy with both.
If anyone is curious, I do these with Caran dβAche Neocolor IIβs and lately Iβve started using their Pablo color pencils (cause I bought the wrong ones).
Still open!
Havenβt posted a lot of the traditional stuff Iβve sketched lately so hereβs a lil update.
Really like this one. It feels honest.
Hi guys! There was confusion about the blind auction, so I'll be doing this as a live auction instead. Bidding has opened at 1000 USD; please contact me to place a bid.
The auction will end on 1/31 10pm PST. Bids placed in the last 10 mins will extend the time by 10 mins.

Itβs the squirrel for me. The use of cool gray and warm brown shadows with the Vermillion(?) around the eye. Really admire this simple and intelligent use of color. The brush strokes in this piece, the controlled saturation, the perspective. Unsurprisingly wonderful work by demi-god Aaron Miller.
Thatβs one of the nicest compliments Iβve ever gotten. Thank you π₯²
Decided to really figure out these Caran dβAche crayons this week. Brain finally spat out a worthy project to put them to the test with.
Hey #PortfolioDay Iβm an artist looking for work. I love painting fantastic and mythological scenes.
A sorceress astounded by her freshly sculpted homunculus. A single shaft of light illuminates her creation. Bounce lighting reflects upon the sorceress. The homunculus has a flaccid butt. The maker's hands are covered in fresh clay. They are the only body parts of the sorceress that are directly lit. Faint, residual purple smoke wisps from her fingertips: the homunculus stands in an awkward pose, that of a creature freshly adjusting to its body. The homunculus has thin limbs and a hefty torso, though it is faced against the viewer. The sorceress's workshop is littered in sculpting tools, brushes, an open tome of transmutation, ceramic bowls and a pitcher of dirty clay water in which lie a few of these tools. Clay shavings are scattered about the floor. A red, runic circle surrounds the humonculus. In the dark background it is possible to catch a few failed prototypes on a shelf. A giant cyclops. Slender, female. Her armor is golden bronze, made of large plates with shield-sized domes protusions, which help veer off attacks. She wears a golden diadem, golden earrings, and her single eye is bright blue. Her armor shines from the warm light that trickles into the large chamber, pouring in from an off-scene oculus. Her face partially in the dark, tall that she is, only illuminated partially by the bounce lighting of her armor. Her right arm adjusts her belt, while her left arm is lifted, underneath it; we see a shirtless servant on top of a tall staircase, tying the laces of her bracer. The staircase is built of beige stone. The bracer is almost the size of this person. By the cyclops' feet, we see two other servants donning her greaves. One of them holds the giant slab of bronze in place, while the other, behind the cyclops' calf, ties up the laces. The floor is a white marble tile, giving the entire scene a slight reflection. Did you know a single greave of this Cyclops weighs around 150 kilos? Behind the Princes Warrior, we see a 2 story tall greataxe. It is brightly illuminated by the single shaft of light that brightens the entire room. In fact, the entire scene is illuminated either by the natural light, or the bounce lighting of the cyclops' armor, giving the entire painting a warm look.
A night-time, rainy alleyway: stealthy obscura spies clad in overcoats and leather, using blue magic to stick to walls, stalk a rival mobster below.
Two Carverine (orc-like humanoids), a male and a female, ride alongside eachother, on top of war hippos. They hold each other's arms. With the other hand, the female orc displays a freshly decapitated head - the enemy king. While the male lifts his axe up in prideful show. Both orcs have red hair and pinkish-gray skin, similar to the hippos they ride upon. The carverine have long, elephant like tusks, and wear minimal bronze armor.

Hey #PortfolioDay Iβm an artist looking for work. I love painting fantastic and mythological scenes.
Force of Negation, painted for Magic: the Gathering. It depicts a female mage, chilling in a bubble of blue magic. Around her, a firestorm of red magic. Digital.
The High Priestess for my game, Pale Tides. It depicts a black woman, hands clasped in a relaxed pose. Owls fly around her, obscuring her face. Pencils and charcoal on paper.
Marcus the Worm. An ode to a great Sargent painting, ruined by my stupidity. Oils on board.
A city painted for Daggerheart. It depicts a city, painted for Daggerheart. Two sneaky guys on the left of the composition, a big old moon in the distance. Digital.

~ 135 hrs., ~300,000 strokes. Wish it was less. Huge jump in ambition. Lots of lessons learned. Something for the portfolio.
I chose more theatrical, neoclassical lighting and staging. Was it successful.
Lots of little details. Whatβs your favorite?
I hope you like it.
