well yeah, kinda. I have the weird fortune of being born Anglican, attending Catholic primary schools when you did go to church, converting to Catholicism, going off to seminary, and then reverting to Anglicanism later.

So yeah, I recognise all those and a lot more. Who kisses their thumb still? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I only know his soundtrack to Kundun (epic Scorcese film about the Dalai Lama) and that is well banging!

Because, there was me converting with some humility, careful not to say anything nasty about Anglicans or Catholics. There was he, presumably all fired up from being ordained, shooting his mouth off about a tradition he knew for less time than me (I was born an Anglican). It smacks of bad manners.

it means being celebrated or highly praised, even to the point of being made a fuss of.

Kinda like when you have a โ€œdistinguished guestโ€ at some fancy function.

weird! He is from Pennsylvania originally.

He did spend about ten years in the UK. But that wouldnโ€™t change the way you write, if, after all, you left in 1995!

Mind you, maybe thatโ€™s why he gets stuff wrongโ€ฆtoo long ago? ๐Ÿคญ

Heโ€™s a barefaced liar. He was fรชted about the time in converted to Roman Catholicism (same time as he was re-ordained). My face always burned with embarrassment when I heard him.

At first it was just little mistakes. Now I think he deliberately pushes the envelope to see how far he can go.

Heโ€™s wrong, but he always is. Thinks that because he was an Anglican cleric he has carte blanche to criticise us. Only thing is, he wasnโ€™t an Anglican long enough, or clearly wasnโ€™t paying enough attention, so he always gets the facts wrong. Always.

Itโ€™s tedious. The man is a sanctimonious shill.

Do you guys have consumer rights organisations? Or a local (state?) department that deals with fair trading? I think you need to threaten them somehow. I just donโ€™t know how to do that in the USA. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The articles says he faces a disciplinary?

But anyhow, isnโ€™t he the one who flitted around between a few dioceses, after having been an administrator of some sort and it taking too high a toll on him? (I recognise the name, you see.)

Can anybody recommend a really good edition of St Ignatius of Loyolaโ€™s โ€˜Spiritual Exercisesโ€™. (I mean, super excellent.)

Iโ€™m not particularly after anything with a commentary tacked on, but Iโ€™d like a good and full text. โœ๏ธโš“๏ธ

Gafcon leaders meet in Nigeria as splits widen in Anglican Church over Sarah Mullally Conservative clerics are meeting in Nigeria to choose a rival to the first female Archbishop of Canterbury.

I saw a news piece saying they want to elect their own rival to the Archbish of Cantab.

Anglican divisions deepen as rebel clerics pick rival to first female leader www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

โ€ฆbut more generally that they want to impose their views on people. Sorry, the world has moved on!

I understand that. Be with him then. You donโ€™t have to say much. You can cry. And contrary to what they taught us when we were wee, you can say what you want.

I see GAFCON wants its own way, yet again. Itโ€™s so sad. And yet, heaven knows what would be necessary for rapprochement now.

Sir Michael Moritz wants German citizenship over 'hostility' to Jews The billionaire says

One of UK's richest men wants German citizenship over 'hostility' to Jews
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

โ€“ this story occupies a strange place with me. Anti-semitism is evil. But whatโ€™s to say Germany will be better? And is there a touch of entitlement here? (โ€œIโ€™m rich; I can run awayโ€) Curious. ๐Ÿคจ

My only advice is unconventional: I dislike the traditional prayer, fasting and alms giving triad. Instead I say I will retreat into the wilderness (desert) and learn how to pray. I will spend time trying to be near my Lord. I canโ€™t help others if I donโ€™t: nemo dabet quod non habet.

I spent some time living in the very traditional south of Germany. It wasnโ€™t folded stripped palm-leaf crosses as we know them. Instead, palms and catkins and all sorts of creeping (but not yet bursting forth) twigs, fronds and branches were used.

Might have a photo somewhere! ๐Ÿคž

I used to do something weird if I needed to cry. Despite thinking them to be the merchandise of hell, I would put on the first of the Star Trek reboots, and wait for George Kirk to die. Floods of tearsโ€ฆ

Find an email address online for the CEO? (And use ChatGPT to quote legal provisions, including consumer rights.)

Equally, Iโ€™d just ask for the bossโ€™ boss and so on. Itโ€™s not customer service anymore. You need to raise a formal complaint.

You mean like all the gnostics do!? And if itโ€™s not John, itโ€™s Thomas or Peter. Or the secret wife-priest Mary Magdalene (poor maligned woman).

Urgh. Theyโ€™re all jackasses just making it up. Happens in Christianity, plenty false sutras in Buddhism, same with Hindu sastras (esp. for some politics).

A good result all round then? GPEW seem alright (I like them more than their Scottish cousins).

And importantly it shows degrees of disaffection: Conservative to Reform, and Labour to Green. We might not want Reform votes, but we do need to understand where they come from and why! ๐Ÿ˜…
