Window filters give a rainbow prism effect to the room when the sun shines through.
Made a little change to the windows to filter the direct sunlight and let in more color.

Finally got a lot of my collected artworks framed and on the walls!

Celebratory Night #3 involves a Cassini (my riff on a Saturn cocktail) and the sultry siren serenades of Yma Sumac.
My falernum batch next to a bottle of John D. Taylor's Velvet Falernum.
Comparing falernum: Mine's definitely got more flavor to my liking. I can pick out the individual ingredients (not sure about the almonds, though), but the cloves give it the flavor I enjoy the most. I'll have to remember the potency when using it in cocktails to adjust other flavors as needed.
Holding the white wavy swizzle stick with the bar icon on top of the stirrer and the portion of the bar dedicated to the wedding in the background.
While I waited for the falernum mixture to infuse the rum, I put together a simple swizzle stick to test print. My home bar is called the Zumbrota after the yacht we had our wedding on, which is why the design is a "Z" in a lifebuoy ring.

Falernum ingredients the day before being added to a rich Demerara simple syrup.
Overproofed unaged Jamaican rum, toasted almonds and cloves, freshly cut ginger and zested lime peels are ready for the 24 hour soak!

Woo hoo! Only one record in it, though. Still, it was $1, and I can listen to the album on YouTube Music.
Skull and crossbones skewers in a green light
3D printed these skewers with food safe filament for the Halloween party!

Shag's "Cool Drooler" print in my custom frame for it hanging on the wall.
I was fortunate to get Shag's "Cool Drooler" print recently. I 3D printed a custom frame for it using Shag's illustrations and the Tonga Hut logo.
But then it just becomes the third entry of the meaning; used as such within a few decades of the word's first recorded usage in the 17th century.
The Book of Tiki by Sven Kirsten.
Thanks to the Intertubes, I managed to find a hardback copy for less than $100! Now to see what this tiki revival fuss is all about!
Vinyl albums of "Don Ho - Again!" and "Lyman '66"
Most of the selections at the thrift stores around here are Ray Conniff and obscure gospel groups; so to find these are a rare treat!
A bottle of Denizen Merchant's Reserve rum along with bottles of Hamilton on the shelf
Another liquor store opened up near my home this past week, making it 5 within 10 miles of me to open up in the past year. It happens to be the only one that had these 4 bottles in stock, though. Each store has something I enjoy that the other ones don't. I guess that's how they stay in business.
Wooden items from Malaysia and Thailand...
One of Eight 1964 World's Fair Souvenir Glasses.
My mother gave me some items she had purchased on her life's travels this weekend for the tiki bar. Malaysia, Thailand, New York. Time for more shelves!
Sign saying "In Case of Fire: Please Leave the Building Before Posting it on Social Media."
Saw this sign at The Pirate Haus Inn in St. Augustine.
Catching fireflies in the backyard while a fire gently burns in the pit. Sounds of frogs and crickets. Smell of burning oak.
Fire in the pit.
Fireflies in the hand.
Frogs and crickets fill the air with melodic songs.

Tiki mig shelf with LED strip lighting
With panels in place, I attached LED strip lights to illuminate the mugs above the shelf and the artwork below the shelf. The panels have angled backing so the lights are angled. The lighting can change colors, too. You can see the untouched shelf above it.

Drink in front of an old-looking radio and photo and various tchotchkes
In hopes of faring well through the storm tonight, a sacrificial drink of Bosko's Blood of the Kapu Tiki is being offered on the radio altar. Bonus effect by using Blood Orange juice in it, too. Safe travels to those in the storm's path this weekend!

Panorama photo showing the finished tiki bar slats on the mug shelf
Testing how well the shelf edge covers look and they snap on perfectly! Once I get the corners and end pieces figured out I'll put in the LED strip lighting behind them. Time to start hanging artwork on the wall, too.
I looked into that, but it seems the way it prints wouldn't produce grain lines, but make it look more like particleboard.
One reason I tend to go "the cheap and simple route" with several bar decorations is because it's rarely seen up close and in bright lighting.
Cobra's Fang cocktail with a bottle of Pernod and Hamilton 151 Demerara Rum with a grinning tiki lamp behind
Starting off the weekend with a 1937 Don the Beachcomber Cobra's Fang. It's potent! π

Standard white PLA+
You can see it before painting in the previous post. I was expecting it to look more like the light switch cover that I shared on here a month ago.
Simple acrylic paint. To make it easy to replicate for future slats, I chose Burnt Umber so I don't have to try to match it. I then brushed it on thick to make sure it got in the nooks and crannies and used a gloved hand/finger to wipe off the part not recessed. Even I'm amazed how it turned out.
