I’ve come to realize people think slurs are just words that hurt our feelings. No. Slurs, particularly the N-word, F-word, antisemitic terms etc. aren’t taboo because of that. It’s because historically when these terms are said they precede or pair with pitchforks, torches, lynchings & gas chambers.
I’ve seen some “WHEN ARE WE GOING TO PUNISH THESE PEOPLE” sentiments in the last couple weeks. Folks: were there.
On 2/18, U.S. District Court Judge Sunshine Sykes wrote that DHS and DOJ “have far crossed the boundaries of constitutional conduct.” Her order came in a class action lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s denial of bond hearings to immigrants who entered without authorization.
ICE agents grabbed a 16-year-old asylum seeker--which they aren't supposed to do
They kept him from his parents -which they aren't supposed to do
They shipped him out of state, to a Christian ministry, which they aren't supposed to do.
Then they *lost* him.

Here's an especially disgusting example of how the New York Times uses its vast resources to sane-wash Donald Trump's Alzheimer's rantings. Trump's "hospital ship" was imaginary. Both of the U.S. Navy's 2 hospital ships are undergoing maintenance and are currently unavailable.
