If you are interested in the U.S. Supreme Court, but have never seen the justices in action, onthedocket.org provides a step in the right direction. We combine authentic audio with AI-generated video to show you the justices announcing opinions in some of the highest profile cases they decide!
It is always amazing to chat with @ninatotenberg.bsky.social. My group (Jerry Goldman, @spoolerfm.bsky.social, and Francesco d'Alcontres) are thrilled to open up SCOTUS just a bit more to a world wide audience.

Writing this paper with these people was a ton of fun! And be on the lookout for Matt, who is an incredible up-and-coming judicial politics scholar coming out of MSU!
Enter us! We examine how coverage has changed over time in major papers and online outlets, and put out a call to arms to scholars to rethink the media-SCOTUS-public opinion connection. And, yes, we updated Collins and Cooperβs Case Salience Index (many thanks to them for the help and support!).
Historically, coverage was legalistic and mostly in major papers. But in the digital era, more outlets can cover SCOTUS and they do it differently. Add in SCOTUS making it easier to access its work via livestreaming, and thereβs a perfect storm of coverage changes that needs studying.
Understanding the nature of SCOTUS coverage is really important because most people only learn about SCOTUS through media coverage.
Coming at you in First View: a look at the changing SCOTUS media environment by Matt Cota (MSU), @rachaelhouston.bsky.social, @elizabethlane.bsky.social, and myself!

Three 8 AM MPSA panels. Whatever gods I pissed off, I'm really sorry...but you couldn't have found a better way to tell me I'm cosmically cursed?!
Friendly reminder the deadline for applications to be the next editor of JLC is coming! (It's 2/1)
I'll be at SPSA if you want to chat about it!
These folks stand on their own but canβt help but note they are all MSU PhDs. So proud.

Also, thank you to Kevin McCarthy for failing the Speaker vote 14 times, giving us the time and focus we needed to write this.
