That's really cool and interesting! Tbh I never imagined that as a part of your brain you could desensitise (not the right word but you know). Personally my "evaluate all incoming info" part is always dialled up to 11, which is why hypnosis feels so foreign to me I guess.

So I think when people in my position say it, they're talking about the fact that it appears that way because, when you're listening to instructions/guidance, that critically analytical part of the brain isn't turned off, and so you can still turn around and be like "No. I'm not doing that."

This is really fascinating to me as someone who admittedly knows essentially nothing about anything which isn't "stage hypnosis". I am legitimately curious as to how it works, but I'm way too skeptical to be susceptible to it...

There's plenty of examples in the past of a company doing something cringe, people going "omg that's so fucking cringe and awful" and then doing that thing anyway to be ironic. I think that's what they're swinging for.

I think that's the point.
I think that *they* think that, if they introduce the idea of buying a shit ton of something as a dunk on someone, then it'll catch on in an "ironic" way, thus they now have people spending a fuckton on their stuff.
