Research poster titled βFrom Framing to Feedback: Computational Analyses of How Audiences Respond to Racism disclosuresβ Presents one online study examining how third-party observers respond to racial discrimination disclosures on social media. Study 1 (N=232): Structural framing of a discrimination disclosure produces slightly higher observer support for the poster compared to interpersonal framing, though pre-existing beliefs about racism explain more variance than framing alone. Qualitative analyses show structural framing shifts the language observers use toward more collective, abstract, and system-focused responses, and that language predicts support for the discloser.
qualitative data reveals why: structural framing changes what observers say, using more *collective, system-focused language* -and that language is what predicts increased support for the discloser.

Research poster titled βWhen Race Talk Goes Public.β Presents two online studies examining how third-party observers respond to racial discrimination disclosures on social media. Study 1 (N=232): Structural framing of a discrimination disclosure produces slightly higher observer support for the poster compared to interpersonal framing, though pre-existing beliefs about racism explain more variance than framing alone. Study 2 (N=1003): Social feedback (validation vs. denial) has a stronger effect on observer support than framing.
across 2 online studies, framing racism as structural/systemic (vs. interpersonal bias) increases observer support for the person disclosing the experience.

Sam Sommers has been such a wonderful presence in our field and this is such a terrible loss. My first contact with Sam happened when he edited one of my papers. Having an editor who helps you develop is rare and valuable. Sam was that way on all things.
