We are deeply saddened by the passing of Carla Stellweg, a pioneering curator, writer, and advocate for Latin American, Latinx-US, Cuban, and Caribbean contemporary art. Her work continues to resonate in the artists she uplifted and the critical conversations she helped shape.

Sรกnchezโs extraordinary work as curator, critic, and researcher leaves an indelible mark on the arts in Mexico, Cuba, and beyond. The ICAA offers our deepest condolences to his loved ones and colleagues.
Gyula Kosice (1924-2016), an exponent of the visual arts, was a member of the group that launched Arturo magazine. As a sculptor, he created mobile structures that relied on water, movement, and light. Kosiceโs essay refers to the topical nature and, therefore, the universal quality of โarte madรญโ.

Sybil Venegas is one the first art historians to historicize Chicana art. In addition, as one of the few Chicanas involved in art history, she was in a unique position to dispel some of the prevalent gender stereotypes and to put Chicana art on an equal scholarly footing as mainstream art.
A heartfelt thanks to the Benson Latin American Collection, UT Libraries, and the Center for Latin American Visual Studies (CLAVIS) for including the ICAA staff in a recent viewing of special collections holdings related to Latinx art and artists.
