Gyula Kosice (1924-2016), an exponent of the visual arts, was a member of the group that launched Arturo magazine. As a sculptor, he created mobile structures that relied on water, movement, and light. Kosiceโ€™s essay refers to the topical nature and, therefore, the universal quality of โ€œarte madรญโ€.

Sybil Venegas is one the first art historians to historicize Chicana art. In addition, as one of the few Chicanas involved in art history, she was in a unique position to dispel some of the prevalent gender stereotypes and to put Chicana art on an equal scholarly footing as mainstream art.
