Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. Itβs about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.
In this new era, taking action on redistricting is not optionalβit is essential. We know the work ahead will require persistenceβbut we were built to meet this moment. Visible from nearby streets to miles beyond, excerpts from President Obamaβs remarks during the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama, started going up at sunrise today on the exterior of the Museum at the Obama Presidential Center. They are a reminder: βYou Are America.β
While in Chicago, I took a tour around the Obama Presidential Center. I canβt wait for you all to visit in June 2026. Hereβs a sneak peek:
Iβm so proud of the talented Leo High School Choir and all they are doing to represent the South Side of Chicago!
I couldnβt leave Chicago without getting a cut from my old barber, Zariff!
Chicago is where Michelle was raised, where I got my start as an organizer, and where we built a family together. When the Obama Presidential Center opens next June, it will be our way to give back to a city that has given us so much. obama.org/presidential-center
I had fun reading to some Burke Elementary students at the Chicago Public Library today. When the Obama Presidential Center opens next year, weβll have a new branch of the library for the community to enjoy.
Ahead of Veterans Day, I was honored to welcome a flight of veterans and their families as they arrived in DC.
The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. Except it doesnβt bend on its ownβit bends because we pull it in the direction of justice. What keeps me hopeful during times like these is being surrounded by people who are doing just that.
We have people in power making broad claims around certain drugs and autism that have been continuously disproven.
Republicans canβt win on their policies, so they are trying to dodge accountability by rewriting the rules. These lawmakers are going out of their way to silence the will of the people and deliberately undermine our democracy.
Republicans would rather shut down the government than help millions of Americans afford health care. This article tells some of their stories, and is a good reminder of whatβs at stake.
Susan, I hope I look as good as you at 102!
In a moment like this, when tensions are high, part of the job of the president is to remind us of the ties that bind us together.
Our democracy is not self-executing. It depends on us all as citizens, regardless of our political affiliations, to stand up and fight for the core values that have made this country the envy of the world.
We canβt lose focus on what matters β right now, Republicans in Texas are trying to gerrymander district lines to unfairly win five seats in next yearβs midterm elections. This is a power grab that undermines our democracy.
I recently spoke with our inaugural MBK Alliance Ambassadors β a group of talented, inspiring young leaders from across the country who are working to give back to their communities. Iβm looking forward to following their progress and having them back as alumni to share what theyβve learned.
More than 16 million Americans are at risk of losing their health care because Republicans in Congress are rushing to pass a bill that would cut federal funding for Medicaid and weaken the Affordable Care Act.
Progress in this country never comes easy or quick. For every few hard-earned steps forward, we might stumble a couple steps back. But sometimes, the slow, steady effort of generations is rewarded with justice that arrives like a thunderbolt.
On Memorial Day, we remember the sacrifices that our men and women in uniform and their families have made to preserve our freedom. May we always strive to honor the strength and resolve theyβve shown our country.
Yesterday, President Obama stopped by Chef Cliff Romeβs restaurant β Peachβs Restaurant β on the South Side of Chicago. Next year, Chef Rome will be leading food services for the Obama Presidential Center. Take a look:
Right now, Republicans in Congress are trying to push through a bill that would put millions of Americans at risk of losing their health care.
They want to cut federal funding for Medicaid, take away tax credits that help more people afford coverage, and raise costs for working class families.
Thanks to the advocacy of Black Alabamians and organizations like @allontheline.bsky.social, Black voters in Alabama will continue voting in fair congressional districts that allow them to elect candidates of their choice. This is a win for Alabama, and proof that progress is possible.
Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Letβs hope others follow suit.
Barack Obama just delivered a blistering takedown of Trump's lawlessness. Importantly, Obama also offered Dems a way to argue that Trump's dictatorial abuses of power and his imminent wreckage of the economy are the same story.
New piece from me:

"It is up to all of us to fix this. Itβs not going to be because somebody comes and saves you. The most important office in this democracy is the citizen, the ordinary person who says, no, thatβs not right."
