If you're only running on Windows, you certainly don't need to worry about those sorts of things. However, if it's a cross platform script, then my suggested approach means you don't need to know what platform you're on, the underlying dotnet framework takes care of that part.

if you use ([io.path]::PathSeparator) rather than hard-coded ';' you won't need to worry what platform you're on
