Sounds like a costume change.
A lot of hip-hop is also pop music, which often means that some of the same stuff that happens with pop albums (weaker material toward the end, trying to appeal to different markets/audiences/etc., "here's the song the record company wanted," "here's the song featuring my cousin") sometimes applies.
In his heart he's still that extremely racist teenager calling in to the Larry Elder show.

Framing Crockett, a pastor's daughter who went to private school before becoming a Delta Sigma Theta, as a 'street fighter,' was a choice.
"The CIA conspired to make me less cool than I was when I was 25" is the most succinct Gen X manifesto I've ever heard
literally your customer base was 90% parents of young children who want a good future for their kids in which they can be free to be themselves, no matter who they are. you told those people to go fuck themselves. they won't be back
it's 1984 and I occasionally take breaks from school to assemble lego to keep my mind off a republican president pushing towards thermonuclear war
it's 2026 and I occasionally take breaks from work to assemble lego to keep my mind off a republican president pushing towards thermonuclear war
When we talk about Baby Boomers not getting off the stage: In 1997, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2007, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2017, the US president was born in 1946.
And next year in 2027? The US president will have been born in 1946.
She's like an old samurai whose great battles are behind her but every once in a while she kills a man with piece of paper just to prove a point

It's not just Republicans that have a hard time admitting they've been played.
Jay Kay, singer and only constant member of Jamiroquai, wears a fuzzy black hat and a fleece jacket
Pharrell Williams, of Neptunes and N.E.R.D. fame, wears a large black hat and a... lace blazer? Is that what's happening there?
There's only room for one giant hat in this bracket, and we already have Pharrell.
