Can you believe how well Scotland is doing this year?! Unfortunately I only went to the one match we lost. We even did well in the football. It’s a very weird feeling for us…

Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. But right now, they’re under attack.

Several Republican-controlled states have redrawn their congressional maps to give themselves an unfair advantage in the midterm elections.

We have quite a bit of flooding around the fields here. This was on my walk this afternoon.

1 March 1819, Edinburgh: birth of Alexander Melville Bell. An elocution & phonetics lecturer at Edinburgh University, his 1855 book 'Letters and Sounds' included as an elocution exercise some tongue-twisting short sentences, amongst them β€˜She sells sea-shells’. He also writes in a very simple manner which makes some of the difficult issues covered in the story seem even more awful.

It’s one of the books I’ve enjoyed the most in quite a while. It’s beautifully written.

I might have to re-read it. I’m absolutely loving My Friends by Fredrik Backman. It was my choice for our bookgroup so have to try and get it finished before the Saturday evening. It’s a long book, which is always risky for a book group book, but everyone has said they’ve loved it too so far.

There was an excellent drama series made of this book back in the 90s. It’s worth looking out for it.

Robert Aramayo just won Best Actor BAFTA for I Swear about a boy from Galashiels (2 miles from here) living with Tourette syndrome. He became a spokesperson and educator for the disorder. If you haven’t seen the film it’s brilliant. He’s so respected in the community here. Need to phone my mum!

Singing along now. No wonder my memory is so rubbish when my brain is taken up remembering all the lyrics to Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance and Mika’s Grace Kelly and so many others.
