Wrapped up a 3-year campaign Sunday night. It started in 5e and ended in Tales of the Valiant.

That story is done, but theirs are not.

I’ve invited the players to bring their characters back as guests in future games. Hope they do—feels like there’s still more life in them.

If you’re joining a game set in a homebrew world, check in with the DM to see if your character concept fits the tone and setting.

Being flexible and open to collaboration goes a long way—sometimes small changes make for better stories (and less stress all around).

One of my biggest challenges as an online GM is my hyper-fixation—especially when a tech issue pops up.

I flip from narrative mode to tech support mode, and then it’s hard to climb back into the story.

Luckily it’s not often, but my brain can be such a nuisance.

Sometimes they’re sitting with the weight of a moment.
Sometimes they’re processing.
Sometimes you accidentally gave them something that mattered.

As someone who struggles with imposter syndrome, there’s nothing quite like having players from a one-shot ask if we can turn it into a full campaign.

It’s a quiet kind of validation. And I’m holding onto it today.
