The Science of Unlearning And Why Organizers Need It “Nobody had a story about unlearning that didn’t include a connection with other people,” says Lewis Raven Wallace.

I talked with @lewispants.bsky.social about the art and science of transformation, how people *really* let go of harmful beliefs, and how we can cultivate the conditions that make unlearning possible.

Annotated copy of the first page of “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston

Tomorrow, my students and I begin Zora Neale Hurston’s masterpiece. This is my favorite novel to read and teach and this is the most perfect first page in all of literature.

I’m nervous and excited to experience Janie’s world with this group. The conversation will be RICH. #TeachingTEWWG

Take Janney Elementary in Tenleytown. On January 29, the Thursday after the storm, 90% of the school's 720 kids attended. But over at Beers Elementary in Ward 7, attendance was 16% of the school's 364 students.

We’re calling for reinvestment and accountability. Our youth are constantly wrestling against a system they can’t trust.

Who gets to tell the story?

At Worldview Wednesdays, our instructors, Orlando and Delonte, help young people explore photography as a tool for storytelling, critical thinking, and change.

From camera care to photojournalism ethics, students are learning that their perspectives matter.

Over the last year, MPD has started cooperating more than ever before with federal agents. It has had deadly consequences, and it's beyond time for DC Council to address it.

Rev. Jesse Jackson stood with residents of the District demanding what should have always been ours: the right to govern ourselves.

He showed up for D.C. because he believed the people of the nation’s capital deserved the same political power as every other American.

Rest in power.✊🏾

Man, expectations are so low and I understand. People have been so beaten down politically that they think that nothing will be changed. But WE are the ones who have to push them to enact the policies they commit to. Nothing will 'just happen.'
