Yahhhh Iโve been back in my fiction arc & devouring books like candy. it makes me appreciate being a bookworm in high school and grateful I latched onto authors like Vonnegut who were foundational in what I like from a story. Writing with style was huge for me, im thinking abt a reread.
The answer is comics are a crazy multi media thing and u kinda just have to make it up and hope you do a good job
Everything I see abt writing for comics is like โlearning how to write for Pixarโ lightโฆwhere is the Cormac McCarthy of writing a graphic novelโฆ
I wish there was something of an equivalent of Kurt Vonniguts How to Write with Style for comics

But Iโve been pushing myself to do things more at like 75% black and 25% white for the moody vibes
I used to try to ooze over pages of old manga artists like Shigeru Mizuki and Kazuo Umezz or American comics artists like Wally wood and jack kirby to figure out the secret but itโs rlly just like, itโs kind of a puzzle of your own invention. I try to go for 50% black and 50% white in all my pieceโฆ
The thing abt inking by hand is that learning to do good black and white patterning is like learning a really complex puzzle that can only really be described as โcontrasting black with white and white with blackโ. It can get so granular tho
