DLSPH’s microfungal biodiversity bank will remain in Canada, avoiding risk of being moved overseas - Dalla Lana School of Public Health The DLSPH microfungal biodiversity bank was at risk of being moved overseas due to insufficient funding but will now remain in Canada.

β€œMoving the collection would have been an irrecoverable loss to Canadian science,” says Dr. James Scott, Director of the UAMH Centre for Global Microfungal Biodiversity. Read about the fungal biobank and its future: www.dlsph.utoronto.ca/2026/02/04/d....

We are pleased to share that the UAMH Centre for Global Microfungal Biodiversity at DLSPH will remain at its location, thanks to a generous donation from the Weston Family Foundation. The collection risked being sent overseas where regulations would limit Canadian researchers’ access to it.
