Do you know the origin of Handshake? www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTW6...
The Internetβs weakest trust anchor is the DNS root. Handshake (HNS) replaces it with Mathematics.
The DNS root is the single most centralized layer of the Internet. Handshake (HNS) replaces that chokepoint with a blockchain-secured root: cryptographic ownership of TLDs, DNSSEC by default, and no institutional gatekeepers.
Handshake isnβt about replacing domains like .com.
Itβs about replacing the root zone file controlled by ICANN .
Names β cryptographic property, not bureaucratic leases.
Handshake integrates with existing DNS via recursive resolvers.
Resolvers can merge HNS + @ICANN zones β no disruption.
Thatβs the βsoft landingβ strategy for decentralizing the root.
DNSSEC is not optional on Handshake.
Itβs enforced at the root.
That means cryptographic proof of authenticity is the default state, not an add-on.

Satoshi: "I think it would be possible for BitDNS to be a completely separate network and separate block chain, yet share CPU power with Bitcoin. The only overlap is to make it so miners can search for proof-of-work for both networks simultaneously."

Different protocols, different purposes.
Handshake is secured by Bitcoin-like PoW, not proof-of-stake.
That means: censorship resistance is baked in at the consensus layer, not dependent on validator politics.
Just like Bitcoin, we all pay the price we deserve
HNS domains can serve as DIDs, logins, wallets, websites, and more. The top 100k Alexa names were reserved for their rightful owners, and all ICANN TLDs are reserved. The remaining TLDs were opened to humanity through an on-chain auction mechanism. I canβt think of a fairer distribution system.
The auction system did help reduce squatting at scale. Since bids lock up funds for 7β14 days and there is a limited supply of HNS coins, even whales had to pick their spots instead of just scooping everything. Without that friction, weβd likely have seen far more mass squatting from the start.
Early internet domains made millionaires. Handshake TLDs could be the next big opportunity. Own entire top-level domains, not just subdomains. The land grab is happening now.
#Handshake #Domains
Why should ICANN control the internet's root zone? Handshake creates a peer-to-peer alternative where no single entity decides what domains exist. The internet belongs to everyone.
#DecentralizedDNS
Handshake β ENS.
ENS: subdomains of .eth, centralized around Ethereum contracts.
Handshake: owns the root namespace itself, competing with .com, .org, .net.
Different layers, different threats.
Same goes for .com's or any other extension or naming system.
You can still find great bargains at:
shakestation.io
namebase.io
These options are definitely cheaper than trying to acquire an ICANN TLD.
You can also discover TLDs that are about to expire here:

Why HNS matters:
Proof-of-Work secures consensus
Bidding + Vickrey auction avoids squatting
DNSSEC baked in from genesis
Names can be bridged to traditional DNS via recursive resolvers
Building on Handshake? The ecosystem needs more developers creating tools, resolvers, and applications. Help build the decentralized web's foundation.

I think youβll need to be the one to build it. Itβs probably just a small change in the code to add HNS support, since it works the same way as DNS. DM me if youβd like me to send you the contacts of the devs from the deprecated Stem Socials HNS Bluesky server.
HNS briefly worked on BSKY. Iβm not sure why they stopped, since I saw it as a beautiful solution that was also compatible with legacy domains.
There was also an attempt at a PDS called Stems Social by @brown.bsky.social and @rithvik.bsky.social , but that was discontinued as well.
The internet was built to be free and open. Handshake $HNS is taking back control from centralized gatekeepers, domain ownership directly in the hands of users. No more censorship, no more single points of failure. True digital sovereignty starts with owning your namespace.
No team No company. HNS is truly decentralized, use it as you please.

Bitcoin freed money. Handshake frees naming. Two choke points down.

Try fingertip with DANE or SANE:

An uncensorable name is the first step toward sovereignty online.

Privacy is power. Handshake protects it with cryptography, not bureaucracy.
Did you know that when names are auctioned on the Handshake Blockchain, the winner pays the second highest bid and that $HNS is burned? π₯ Yep. Over 10.5 percent (71M HNS) of the circulating supply (670M) has been burned to date. π₯
