It’s a great subject and excellent podcast. However… the French did have some truces with the Germans and it did happen again on a smaller scale in 1915.

Thomas Smith, a prewar regular of the Black Watch, had a son born mid April 1915 with the middle name Joffre.

Thomas died at Aubers Ridge three weeks later.
