Absolutely love Marathon, but I suspect it'll be something niche like Hunt Showdown. It's punishing, complex, shoot first and ask questions later. It's just not a kind enough world or experience to reach critical mass.

This cannot be real hahaha
We're at GDC. If you're looking to self publish we'd love to chat! ๐ฅณ
I love this mate ๐ฅน
To be fair I let a Rook run off this week with his goodies because he was sound, but I love the kill on sight. Arc is carebear central where the community is better off playing Hello Kitty.
Genuinely I love the lack of ambiguity in Marathon. Blast people into dust, loot and move on. Fantastic.
What's with the increase in games showing smoking, or having main characters (and/or all of them) smoking? ๐ฌ
Ahh yes, releasing games years after their console debut with questionable optimisation and eyewatering prices is absolutely a recipie for success on PC.
Ok that answers a lot of questions I had. Their stuff is mega.
Yep, that was our total cost for events, trailers, key art, creators and social advertising.
This made me laugh so much
This looks amazing
This was really helpful actually, thanks a lot for that
Hmm, that feels confusing i might be being stupid but I can't get my head around it?
@marathonthegame.bungie.net Loving the game, but what's happening with some itemisation? Four items, each with the same names and versions, doing seperate things? Nimble fingers/Hurting Hands. I feel every name and icon should be unique to reduce reading time.
It's ok we can be terrible together
We should play some
Hmm, I didn't realise for multiple rounds that the health bar is the thin line in the lower left. I thought that was my shield, until I picked up an improved shield that changed the bar colour.
8. In terms of issues...HUD clarity could be better. Why doesn't my health bar clearly show it's health (symbol? Colour?) Why doesn't my shield also have a symbol?
9. Iconography over item images would be better.
10. I think trio queue should probably be benched for duo. Filling squads isn't great
7. Rook is an incredible shell that brings such an amazing gameplay experience for solo outings. The fact you spawn in late makes you feel like a proper rat runner. His disguise also results in some amazing plays against players.
4. It has lots of subtleties that make itemisation good - auto pickup on stacking items, a great sale and vaulting feature after extraction.
5. Quests feel fantastic and rewards really generous.
6. The enemy AI faction is incredibly smart and terrifying. Incredibly aggressive.
Some more Marathon thoughts ๐
1. The world is incredible and the atmosphere is unbelievable.
2. Gunplay is without doubt the absolute best of the genre - it's as good as Witchfire and every bit as punchy.
3. It feels like Apex meets Arc, with a focus on combat over crafting hauls.
I genuinely think Marathon is one of the most striking, visually stunning games I've ever played. It's just an absolute assault on the eyes.
Reworked my GDC presentation 3 times in total. It's now finally ready. Do pop by on the Friday morning if you'd like to learn about how we launched a 3-hour indie game with $60K, and turned it into an enormous success #GDC
Should have keys very soon, Jam, I'll send you one as soon as I have
Dropped you a DM, Willa
That's us! ๐
I'm genuinely shocked at how far the Destiny 2 player numbers have fallen. Down to 10k concurrent on PC today ๐คฏ
