In 1996, these movements first came together in the Indian city of Kundapur and claimed the rights of working children to participate in global debates of child labor.
It was a pleasure to organize an exchange between the three movements of working children - discussing current challenges including climate change, global aid, poverty and the upcoming ILO Conference on the Elimination of of Child Labour to be held in February in Morocco.
💬 This weekend we held "30 Years after Kundapur: Reflections and Futures of Working Children's Movements and their Stance on Child Labor Regulation" together with Pronats e.V., Molacnats Secretaria Ejecutivo from Latin America, MAEJT Afrique and The Concerned for Working Children / Bihma Sangha.

This is particularly important for norm scholars, as it allows them to account for agency within norm dynamics while simultaneously attending to the limiting effects of colonial, ageist, and capitalist power hierarchies.
I understand tactical and strategic practices in De Certeau's theory as interrelated; in this way, we can see how weaker actors appropriate ‘forces alien to them’ in their everyday lives. Through these appropriations, they construct narratives that form the basis of their political agency.
Using the concept of "everyday practices" by De Certeau, I argue that organized working children in Bolivia (re)create their subjectivity through everyday practices interacting with institutional, material, and social structures which in turn are embedded within broader narrative frameworks.
💫Already published a while ago, but I have written on the governed agency of organized Bolivian working children in the ERIS SI on decolonizing perspectives in norms research brill.com/view/journal...
