I've since played every game the developer made, one of my favorite indie devs ever but yea his games are weird weird. I love it.
As a hobby artist I think it depends on who they think it reminds them of. I've gotten compliments for art that unintentionally looked like actors/actresses and it felt like a big compliment. But ig if it was some trashy character I didn't like it probably would've felt less good. It's risky i guess

Tbf is there any pc game nowadays where you don't have to register somewhere to play it? I'm fairly young and I think the only game I ever bought on disc that didn't need an account on steam or ubisoft was the very first Assassin's Creed.
Never thought about it that way tbh... now I feel srsly bad for the people who worked on Red Dead Online. Imagine being pulled from a game riddled with bugs and seeing people online complain about it and you can't do anything.

Look, I love (and I mean LOVE) RDR but that game is over 10 years old, it does NOT deserve to get an award for games that were released in 2024 just because it got a PC port in that year
Maybe part of it is that everything is so accessible now, it's nothing special anymore. I remember getting DVDs for christmas/ birthdays or borrowing VHS from friends. Now it's like netflix etc. recommends stuff and maybe you like it, maybe you don't, who cares, can always watch something else.
