that being said i think i over-geared my portfolio for that genre (which is not actually a genre of game i like playing that much lol) because i needed a job and they were popular. it worked, but i think i lost touch with my personal art a bit as a result, which im trying to recover now 😭

basically picking a genre and an aesthetic and making a portfolio pretending like youre already working on a game like that. I didn't know concord was being made when i was making it but it was a safe bet that some studio somewhere was making a sci fi shooter. also networking is super important

I geared my portfolio specifically for the sci-fi shooter genre, which helped a lot. This meant looking at current shooter levels (csgo, valorant etc), understanding a bit of their level design principles and showing that i could work with the env design pipeline (drawing over blockouts, etc)
