Getting a bunch of work done on the editor and map data. There's still a bunch of things I want to add to it, but now to fix some of the logic issues that were not noticeable in A Short Bike.

CTF is a framework for Hangin' Out With The Homies, yes.
it's not like *everyone* thinks you're a genius just because you're a programmer necessarily, but it IS totally ubiquitous to assume every programmer is at least Pretty Smart, and route any criticisms around that assumption. this must be overcome. call a coder a moron today
I'd be happy to! sent you an email
I'm especially happy about our new Playable at Your Own Pace category, which I hope will be helpful for players trying to find games that don't require dexterity or timing -- like most turn based games or visual novels. If your game qualifies, make sure to complete the wizard so players can find it!
game developers! we've made some updates to accessibility categories on Steam and I encourage you to go through the accessibility wizard once more to see if your game should have the new categories store.steampowered.com/news/group/4...
@jakearchibald.com your excellent article about video with alpha (jakearchibald.com/2024/video-w...) has been a go-to for me to explain the current state of the world so I thought you might like to know that x265 has alpha support now and ffmpeg can use it (as of 8.0). this is what we do for Steam
inkle, one of the best to ever do it in narrative games, tackling the deduction game space makes me very excited
this is apparently a mac vs everyone else difference. I was baffled on reading this personally -- to me Home has always been beginning of line and I would be annoyed otherwise!
this is really fuckin cool. probably extremely hard to do, but so cool
Valveβs announcements last week about their new hardware were particularly welcome here at Igalia: a lot of our work will be in those machines. From translation layers to better frame rates and longer battery life, weβve helped @valvesoftware.com push gaming forward. www.igalia.com/2025/11/help...
Gave penguins timing-sensitive motor planning capabilities. In other words, they can try to move a body part to a specific place *at a specific time*. This is vital for NPCs with a sense of rhythm or good reflexes!

If you want to start making games, instead of trying to make your magnum opus on your first go, please do some game jams. Ludum Dare. Something short with a fixed time limit and specs you need to follow. Learn about developing under restrictions, how to get creative in them, how to scope smartly.
i canβt believe a good thing happened we should do this more often
βEating candy corn feels like eating waxβ
Yes! Good! Exactly! Do you know how many scented candles Iβve had that Iβve desperately wanted to eat?

i ask because I am partially responsible for some images on steam being webp and I had been convinced photoshop supported it from this
not a photoshop user, so I don't know how this stuff works. is the webp support this is talking about (helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb...) in one of those versions of photoshop people don't use because it's a subscription or whatever?
Did a game jam with friends this weekend! I did the music. Page for it is here: ldjam.com/events/ludum...

i have had some moments of genuine frustration with lingo but also some of my favorite moments in a puzzle game. what a cool game
you're so right
So I started watching this streamer whose schtick is he dresses up as a scarecrow.
It's pretty good but a little repetitive - he starts every show with hay guise
it's really good! often quite busy though
BREAKING: Silksong will be out on September 4. Two weeks from today. Really.
Often, games that take 7+ years to make are plagued by mismanagement and painful burnout. But for Silksong? Team Cherry was having a blast. They still are.

masahiro sakurai speaking from his desk. he says "why is making a game so hard"
opening your new game announcement with this is so fucking funny and real
I left little critiques on lots of game trailers so here's a thread with the most common issues (and additional reading) π§΅
1. Don't put logos at the start. It's just dead air that could be gameplay, which is 100000000X more interesting.

Earlier this year, @steampowered.com started work to make it easier for players to find games with accessibility features. If you haven't yet, take a look at our documentation highlighting how you can display accessibility options your game supports:

I feel like not enough of you heard me tell you that you must read The Tainted Cup so Iβm saying it again. two weird detectives in a quasi-Roman fantasy setting with the most interesting magic system Iβve seen in a while uncover murder plot while beset byβ¦ fine Iβll call them kaiju
