Ambassador Anniken Huitfeldt and colleagues from the Norwegian Mission in the US joined the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA, the Embassy of Iceland Washington DC, and the European Union in the United States to demonstrate Norway`s unwavering support for Ukraine in a rally in D.C last weekend. ππ
A just and lasting peace can only be achieved on Ukraineβs terms. Any solution must guarantee Ukraineβs full independence, sovereignty, and freedom to choose its own pathβincluding its alliancesβboth now and in the future.
Norwegian support to Ukraine is steadfast and long-term. We have provided almost $23 billion USD in military, civilian, and humanitarian assistance from 2022-2026 β demonstrating unified support from all political parties represented in the Norwegian Parliament.
The courage of the Ukrainian people over these four devastating years is deeply inspiring. Homes have been destroyed and lives lost, yet Ukraine`s fight for freedom continues.
European security depends on Ukraineβs victory. Ukraine is fighting not only for its own survival, but for the principles that underpin the UN Charter and international law: sovereignty, freedom, and the rule of law. We cannot allow borders in Europe to be redrawn by force.
Norway stands firmly with Ukraine πΊπ¦ π³π΄
Four years have passed since Russia launched its illegal and brutal fullβscale invasion on 24 February 2022 β a war that began with the invasion of Crimea in 2014.
