Big expenses aren't "treating myself". Every now and again you can make a big expense like a vacation or purchase that you have saved for or that it make you lose sleep over the cost. Living under our means sometimes sucks, but it provides a cushion and peace of mind that is hard to value.
In my personal life, "treat myself" means going to a fast food one day a week where I would have otherwise eaten at home. It means leaving work a little early so I can go for a walk or go watch airplanes. It means buying the cheapest tickets to a sports game or a theater show.
I don't think it'll go back to the pre-COVID trends, but a prolonged increase in oil prices will have an overall impact on demand. I don't think it'll be as bad (especially since the Gulf is primarily a connecting destination), but there's a chance that a prolonged dip in the industry is ahead.

I'm so sad that Boeing let the 757 die. It is such a versatile aircraft and it has no real replacement so far. If Boeing had any foresight, they would start gauging interest in a 757 replacement that looks like the 757 but isn't a "neo" version. I'm sure Delta/UA/AA would put in early orders
