On NJ Transit on the way home and the train just died.
Just another day/reminder of how “the richest and most powerful nation in the world” cannot do mass transit.
We can afford a war and build concentration camps, but not mass transit.

ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. She’s married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
They’ve already sent her to Louisiana.
The kind of joke I will hit “like” on but not repost 😂
So it’s not just Palestinian users that Bluesky moderation hates, it’s all Bluesky users?
"Black-owned bookstores saw a jump due to renewed interest in Black authors and books as a result of the Black Lives Matter movement and the protests around George Floyd’s murder. Even now, as the Trump administration attempts to erase Black history, Black-owned bookstores are continuing a comeback"

There has never been an official, comprehensive record of Black-owned bookstores across the United States — until now
Ms Cardigan: Lately I have desperately pondered, spent my nights awake and I wonder what I could have done in another way?

Two books: Randa Abdel-Fattah's DISCIPLINE Amado V Hernandez's LUHA NG BUWAYA/CROCODILE'S TEARS
Book post! A book by the author that makes every pissweak Australian politician's spine eject right out of the top of their heads, and another of the extremely difficult to get Penguin Southeast Asian Classics.
A good one
Books should smell like Ralph Lauren Polo Blue

Around 10 years ago, I began to write a novel where an AI trained on literary analysis goes on to be used as a weapon of mass destruction that brings down the world.
When I was writing it, I thought it was farfetched, that I was simply writing up a crude metaphor about imperial literature.
No one wants to use AI—we know that this is a technology in search of an actual use or a "killer app," as they used to say in Silicon Valley, that will attract users to their platform.
AI finally found their user base: fascist governments. And this time, the killer app actually kills.

Congratulations! If you can start verifying media and gov’ts outside of the US/UK bubble, that would go a long way in extending global reach 💜
Me, with my one argument that I keep making:
I bet just one of those planes could’ve funded the entire National Endowment for the Arts
You’ve already given so much, Alexander! I feel I need to take your words and let them sit with me. Surely that’s why that essay keeps coming back to me. But thank you! 💜✨
I don’t know how you went through all this 😭💜 Hugs back
🙏🏼🌈🙇🏻♂️💜✨

The logical endpoint of American society is where everyone is either rich or a prisoner providing slave labor for the rich.
And now we learn that Anthropic thing was just posturing / a charade. AI literally kills.
Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.
I just dropped my iPhone 13 mini on my face because I only have my tiny hands to grip my tiny phone
Soooooo I guess Trump kinda did bring the Koreas together???
It is very weird to see a South Korean president use the word "존중" in an official statement regarding the North Korean government, I feel like that's technically in breach of the (horrible and unjust) National Security Act lol
South Korea's President Lee assures North Korea that we respect their regime and will not engage in hostilities or pursue reunification by force (clearly to distance South Korea from the unhinged antics of America).

The only thing it feels worthwhile for me to say right now is pay attention to whether your feelings & the information you’re absorbing are paralyzing you or prompting you to meaningful action, whatever that is. Paralysis helps no one but the enemy.
