Find the smallest non-utility functionality and see how comfortable you are parsing it. You don’t need to know the business logic, but understand the technical pattern in use.

I’m convinced, at this point, that about 90% of the things in tech look hard because you aren’t in the details. Once you dig in it’s a permutation of patterns that aren’t too complex.

The other 10%, ya, I’m not smart enough for that shit.

My experience is with DNS and there are long known but painful ways to improve on the footguns in that experience.

I would not pretend to be an expert on mitigating the risks that exist with DNS configuration today.
