Despite reports of literacy rates dropping, I actually think we're reading more than any other generation has. It's just not in the form of regular books.

My job as a SWE has me reading thousands of lines of code a day. Now, is it good, informative reading? Probably not, but it is still reading.

Yeah it's mostly people amazed/baffled that someone would actually care about commissioning art. We creatives seem few and far between.

If you're a middle class American and know decent budgeting skills, it really isn't that unreasonable to spend up to $8,000 a year on art if you really wanted to.
