I made lentil soup for 1st time, used @nytimes.com recipe: cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1016... Soaked lentils first. SO YUMMY.
I am in awe of #KidLit writers who continue to do regular writing every day despite limited writing time because of a full-time day job.

Excited that Gabrielle Zevin's Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is going to be made into a movie. Loved this book so much. Fingers crossed they do a good adaptation.

My pal @maureenmcgowan.bsky.social says that while we can't control when lightning hits, we can work on improving our lightning rods. My pal @kevinarts.bsky.social adds that we also need to be READY for when lightning hits.
Actually, I just realized that your first name isn't Canette. Thank you, Canette Books! π©·
Thanks for the kind words, Canette. Much appreciated.
Thanks, Daniel!
Christy is amazing! She inspires me in so many ways.
Omigosh!!!! Look what @christinafarley.bsky.social created to help celebrate the launch of I'M BUSY by @michaelianblack.bsky.social and me from @simonkids.bsky.social. Christy is one of the busiest authors I know, so am especially grateful. Thank you, Christy! β€οΈπππ𧑠#KidLit #YALit
Brilliant, Anne Marie.
Thank you, Bev! And thank you SOOOOO much for your critique of one of my MG mss. Your comments were so thoughtful and helpful, made me rethink my overall approach.
I've been purposely turning down illustration work for the same reason. Good luck to both of us, Pat! π€π½π©·
Thank you so much, Amanda!
So true. Again, some can't afford to make that choice. And every person's situation is different.
In my case: I'm in my sixties & am thinking hard about what I want to achieve in the next decade, what I would regret *not* doing.
For me, it's writing middle grade. π
Thank you, Janice!
Thanks, Katherine!
Exactly!
100% agree, that it's a combo of luck and hard work.
I think we can help create our own luck (like artists participating in your awesome #KidLitArtPostcard mthly challenge, hoping that the right person will see one's work at the right time) but so much is out of our control in the industry.
Thank you, Gina! π©·
This week marks a transition point for me, in terms of work. MY NEXT CAREER GOAL: to *debut* as a MG author. I began as a MG writer, time to get back to my roots.
Before telling me "you got this", pls read the (long) thread in my work-only update acct ...and thank you. π©· #KidLit #MG #MiddleGrade
