I propose we make a online club called β€˜Nap & Draw’

Where we nap. Then draw.

Or maybe just one or the other πŸ˜†

Awesome! I can share from many years of experience with naming/branding things that it’s essentially impossible to conjure enough genius in a re-name/re-brand to outweigh the equity that a name/brand can only accrue via the passage of time.

The American people are sick and tired of endless wars built on false promises and paid for with innocent lives.

Congress must immediately pass Khanna-Massie War Powers Resolution.

I was talking to a book designer on our team yesterday and was able to put to words: β€œWe expect the illustrator to be excellent at making art but they are not expected to be excellent at making books. It’s our job to be excellent at making books, inside and out. The book itself, that is our domain.”

I DO NOT LIKE that people made change in the past by cutting up coins like little pizzas

Trueβ€”sometimes listening to customer feedback is the problem. One save/export menu containing all options feels like the clear solution to me tho.

Back when I was on Adobe’s Type Advisory Council I felt like I could offer feedback on stuff like this and know that someone was listening. Not clear if anyone is listening to anything anymore.

Photoshop’s whole *Save-As…/Save-a-Copy…* some-file formats-only-under-one-option situation is truly WTF.

Bluesky is not the commons. Twitter is not the commons. You can’t have a privately held commons. That’s not what words mean

I used to be addicted to Twitter. I posted up to 100x/day. It disrupted my life. I have been interviewed at least 65 times about Twitter and doomscrolling. I no longer post on Twitter because it wasn't worth it anymore. There are other journalists who never post there either. Everything is a choice.

This is exactly right. The Onion quietly left Twitter a month ago and... our weekly subscribers went up. It's because we're doing well here, on Instagram and on YouTube.

As a business, being on Twitter is somewhere between useless or detrimental, unless you're selling boner pills.

Teaching a 2 course load on top of a demanding full-time job is a lot. I love it allβ€”still a lot. Been spread so thin I feel like I'm out of touch with the #kidlit conversation hereβ€”it's making me sad. 😭

#kidlit friends, please catch me up. What did I miss? What's new? What's good with you?

When I was 5 years old they found a tumor in my ankle. I was terrified to get surgery. For me, this book was EVERYTHING. I totally get how art can do the same thing.
