Spending the morning trying to get a react app from 2015 to build and I've never more wanted my build manager to have a "reject all packages after xyz date" flag than right now π΅βπ«
Title: Gender Census 2025. Text: If you can't easily put yourself into just one of these two boxes, you are invited to take part. Illustration: Two boxes, each with photos of relevant dictionary pages.
The 12th annual international Gender Census 2025 is now open until at least 30th August 2025!
survey.gendercensus.com
It's for anyone whose gender (or lack thereof) isn't described by the M/F binary. It's short and easy, and results are useful in academia, business and self-advocacy.
Oh gods I think I might be a furry again

Christ this is stunning - are you planning on selling prints of the art at any point? Would love to get one!!
The fact that Madmani did well with young Jewish New York voters just shows how antisemitic young Jewish New Yorkers have become.
I'm not actually sure of the implementation, but stuff like this is why I love Ada's modular types / integer subtypes so much!

Second last exam done!! Ever!!
(by which I mean, they don't feel interesting because the techniques pioneered were so novel that they're too fundamental to modern jazz to recognise as novel anymore?)
Maybe I'm just too melody-pilled but I cannot for the life of me understand what makes bebop solos interesting? I get that they're harmonically interesting, but every solo feels like a 15 y/o guitarist playing pentatonic runs. Is this just a "wow, everything plato said is so obvious" moment or?
WOKE DEI HIRE COMEDIAN RANTS ABOUT HER PENIS
There are obvious ethical issues with knowingly exposing people to harmful diseases, but this is dumb for another reason.
New vaccines aren't tested against placebo because they are tested against the prior version of the vaccine. That's how you know the efficacy is improving.
Finished my brother in law's acoustic panels (except for hanging hardware). My mid-renovation basement makes a nice workspace ngl
Just for the record, the β530,000 cases would take 100 yearsβ claim is yet another completely made up figure from Trump.
Even in the years before prosecutorial discretion and when there were several hundred feet judges, the immigration court routinely cleared over 250,000 cases a year.
truly beautiful
A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they donβt die.
Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

Breaking: RFK Jr. has forced out PETER MARKS, the nationβs top vaccine regulator.
In his resignation letter, obtained by the Post, Marks said he was willing to work with RFK Jr on his vaccine concerns β but said Kennedy wishes βsubservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.β
I imagine part of it is that they want to make sure their moderation means something - both for user experience and for regulatory reasons. I imagine the government & app stores would be upset if it was trivial for users to ignore bans on illegal content
One completely baseless guess: do they have a non-english keyboard on their computer? I've had students accidentally add non-unicode characters to code before and had things break unexpectedly. Could be worth chucking the R file through something like this to see: pages.cs.wisc.edu/~markm/ascii...
It's a shame my wife doesn't follow legal news because she's not going to get it when I start decrying her "picayune disputes over the micromanagement of whether I've done the dishes" at home
I literally can't pick a tweet in this thread to repost because they're all *insane* but Jesus the US government is really just blatantly playing chicken with the courts at this point huh
( #uspol )
Also because of the lack of algorithm, I'd imagine most users here follow a lot less users than they do on Twitter, so a follow is "worth more" here
It's hard to compare though because of the lack of an algorithmic homepage here - most of your followers on Twitter generally don't see your posts, whereas if you're a prolific poster it's easy to consistently appear in your followers feeds
If the US starts cracking down on poppers, I wonder if this might mean we get an actual honest-to-god certified Australian amyl nitrate manufacturer / importer to open.
Really frustrating that despite the legalisation, there's no current way for people to buy labeled, tested, trusted poppers.
Today's queer committee meeting has reminded me that I should really find a job where I exclusively do meetings God
