sorry lol, to clarify i also find myself blown away at this stuff. i think the average mashcore producer probably clears my ability to creatively use samples or chop breaks. i’m just obsessed with hooks and i disappoint myself a bit when i don’t immediately recognize a sample

this is usually my experience with breakcore, and while i‘m not a “sampling is cheating” type (i obviously like to make sample-based stuff as much as anyone) it takes a little of my reverence away from the artistry of a song i’d otherwise consider genius

breakcore/mashcore seems to be uniquely obsessed with remixing nostalgic pop songs. nothing wrong with that per se but it's been kind of interesting to see how many people don't realize that we wrote our songs, my vocals aren't sampled, etc. idk if that's the same thing tho
